Redskins DE Jason Hatcher (knees) will miss this week's minicamp due to pain and swelling in both of his knees, but "hopes" to return to action for the start of training camp. Hacher, who signed a four-year, $27.5 million deal with the Redskins in March, needs an MRI on both knees. It's unclear when Hatcher got hurt. "He just said he had a little bit of pain, a little bit of swelling," coach Jay Gruden said. "So, we're going to make sure we do the proper procedure as far as getting him checked out - MRI, X-ray and all that good stuff and make sure he's good." Hatcher is a key piece for the Redskins to turn around a lackluster defense. He's expected to play base 4-technique and rush the passer from the interior in sub-packages.
