Matt Cassel QB MIN Sep 10 '786 Comments

According to the Kansas City Star, even "people inside the Chiefs' offices who adore" Matt Cassel concede the quarterback will not be back in 2013.

Cassel is due to earn $7.5 million in 2013. Even if he was willing to restructure to return as a backup, it's not going to happen. He's been benched twice now, with frustrating fans directing their vitriol in his direction. Both sides will move on even if Cassel's biggest NFL supporting remains the Chiefs general manager. Cassel will have to accept a backup job on the open market.

Brady Quinn is not the answer either... may even be worse if that is possible! The Chiefs only hope is to draft the best QB in this years draft. I don't forsee any reliable AND PROVEN vets being available in free agency. Rookies are proving themselves to be immediate starters and it's time this team steps up to the plate and takes one.

They'll have a top 3-5 pick there are good QBs in this draft

I really hope the Chiefs do not draft Geno Smith.

I think they will have the top pick in the draft. They are currently sitting in the #1 spot and should be a lock to keep it with Quinn at the helm.

I thought Jacksonville was #1

Nope. Jacksonville is 2-9 while the Chiefs are 1-10.
