Redskins S DeJon Gomes is expected to take over as the team's starting strong safety with Brandon Meriweather (knee) out for the season. Gomes, in his second season out of Nebraska, started the first three games of the season with Meriweather out but was quickly replaced in the lineup by veteran Reed Doughty. Washington coaches are giving him a second chance, though. Pro Football Focus grades Gomes well below average against the run.
