Lillard (foot) was rusty in his return Friday against Maccabi Haifa, recording 11 points (3-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), two assists, one rebound, and one steal in 24 minutes. Afterward, he told the Blazers' official site, "I got tired pretty quick because I haven't played in a game [recently], but it felt pretty good and I caught my second wind."

Taking the floor for the first time since sustaining a foot injury in the Blazers' preseason opener on Tuesday, Oct. 7, Lillard only displayed flashes of brilliance on a few occasions, namely after halftime. With three exhibitions remaining on the schedule, though, he has ample time to recover in time for Opening Night, Oct. 29 against the Thunder. However, owners should watch his performance closely in the intervening time to ensure he's approaching his typical dynamic play.

Lillard (foot) will play Friday against Maccabi Haifa, Erik Gundersen of The Columbian reports.

As expected, Lillard will be back on the court after missing a week with a foot sprain. The Blazers may still take it easy with the All-Star, though, as he's expected to once again carry a heavy workload this season.

Lillard (foot) returned to practice Wednesday and said he expects to play in Friday's preseason game versus Maccabi Haifa B.C. (Israel), The Oregonian reports.

Lillard was excluded from scrimmage work during Tuesday's practice, but returned as a full participant Wednesday. Judging from that progress, it appears Lillard's left foot sprain suffered last week is subsiding. Nonetheless, the Blazers will likely exercise full caution with their young All Star point guard, so his status ahead of Friday's preseason tilt should be worthwhile to monitor.

Lillard (foot) practiced Tuesday but was excluded from the team's scrimmage, Eric Gundersen of The Columbian reports.

Lillard sprained his left foot last week and has missed each of the Blazers' last two preseason contests. He declared himself 100 percent after a tough Monday workout, but it appears the team is still being cautious with its star point guard. Liillard is expected to play in Friday's contest against Maccabi Haifa.

Lillard completed a strenuous workout Monday, after which he declared himself 100 percent, The Oregonian reports.

Included in said workout was an array of upper- and lower-body drills intended to test Lillard's left foot sprain, which he tweaked in the Blazers' preseason opener last Tuesday. As a result, after sitting out two games, he should suit up for the next available tilt Friday against Maccabi Haifa.

Lillard (ankle) is considered doubtful to play in Sunday's preseason game against the Clippers, the Columbian reports.

Lillard missed practice Saturday and it sounds like he'll sit again Sunday, but he stressed that both he and the team are just being cautious. The injury, which is now being labeled a left foot sprain, has not prevented Lillard from keeping up with his conditioning, and he said he would play if it were the regular season.

Lillard (ankle) will not play in Thursday's preseason game against the Jazz, The Oregonian reports.

Lillard tweaked an ankle after having his foot stepped on during Tuesday's preseason opener, so the point guard will simply sit out Thursday for maintenance purposes. As a result, Steve Blake is expected to start at point guard for the Blazers.

The Blazers picked up the fourth-year option on Lillard's contract, Mike Tokito of The Oregonian reports.

The move comes as no surprise, as Lillard has emerged as one of the top point guards in the league through just two NBA seasons. The Weber State product, who averaged 20.7 points, 5.6 assists and 3.5 rebounds while shooting nearly 40 percent from three, was a major reason Portland reached the second round of the playoffs and figures to carry the "face of the franchise" torch for years to come.

Lillard didn't make the cut for Team USA's 12-man roster for the upcoming FIBA World Cup, but he'll be called upon in case someone opts out at the last minute, CSN Northwest reports.

Because Derrick Rose has been limited in warmup games due to general soreness, Lillard is waiting in the wings to provide support at the point. A decision must be made by 6:30 AM ET on Friday, which marks the tournament's tip-off in Spain. If his services are required, he would likely direct the offense behind Kyrie Irving.

Damian Lillard said Matt Barnes told him his defense will be the key to making the Team USA roster.

"He just called and told me that everybody knows that I can shoot the ball and make plays, but he said he knows that I can defend too," Lillard said. "He said just go out there and be a dog and pick up full-court." Lillard's offensive skill set has grown as his career has moved along, but he has still been torched on defense, giving up numerous season highs to opposing point guards last year. If Derrick Rose is healthy, Lillard may have a tough time making the team.
