Barnes will start at small forward in Thursday's preseason game versus the Nuggets, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Barnes started Golden State's most recent preseason outing, when Andre Iguodala came off the bench in his first game with a broken nose. However, since then, new coach Steve Kerr has mentioned his interest in experimenting further with Barnes as the Warriors' starting small forward. Doing so would allow Iguodala to serve as the team's sixth man in a point-forward role while Shaun Livingston (toe) remains sidelined. Furthermore, Barnes has excelled in a starting role over his first two seasons, but Iguodala's addition last summer often relegated Barnes to a less effective reserve spot. As a result, it should be worthwhile to monitor how Kerr manages both Barnes' and Iguodala's roles for the remainder of the preseason.

Barnes (shoulder) started at small forward in Sunday's preseason game against the Lakers, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. He had suffered a minor shoulder injury during Thursday night's preseason game.

Barnes scored eight points (4-of-7 FG, 0-of-2 FT) with three rebounds, one assist, two blocks and two steals in the win. Head coach Steve Kerr's decision to start Barnes was in part due to regular starter Andre Iguodala's broken nose, but it also gave him a look at both players in different roles. Overall in his two NBA seasons, Barnes has been a better producer when playing with the starting five, but that's unlikely to be the case in 2014-15. He'll need to learn how to impact games from the bench.

Barnes suffered a shoulder injury during Thursday night's preseason game against the Lakers but was able to return to the court, CSN Bay Area reports.

It was an aggressive Barnes -- a more aggressive one than we saw in the preseason opener Tuesday -- who scored 11 points and got to the free-throw line seven times against the Lakers. We presume he'll be able to go when the two teams tip off again Sunday.

Barnes could benefit from the new offense being installed by head coach Steve Kerr, the San Jose Mercury News reports. Kerr is installing more ball and player movement to the Warriors' attack.

Barnes suffered last season in a more isolation-driven attack. Particularly because his ball-handling skills aren't advanced enough to excel in that style. He's still slated for minutes in the second unit, but playing with a backup point guard like Shaun Livingston will help.

Barnes could receive playing time at starting small forward leading up to this season, although Andre Iguodala will probably retain the position, according to new Warriors coach Steve Kerr, the San Jose Mercury News reports.

Barnes went from starting 81 games as a rookie to just 24 last season upon the arrival of Iguodala via trade. Despite predominately coming off the bench, Barnes still increased his minutes average to 28.3 last term, when he also tallied 9.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. With coach Kerr aiming to familiarize himself with Golden State's personnel, Barnes will be experimented with at starting small forward, even as Iguodala is expected to keep hold of the position.

Harrison Barnes looks to bounce back after struggling throughout most of his sophomore season.

"Last year was definitely a step back from what I was trying to build on my rookie year," he said. "So now the biggest thing is when the expectations are on the ground, you've got to be motivated and disciplined." Barnes was expected to take a leap forward after a strong rookie season, but he barely improved in major statistical categories and his field goal percentage dropped considerably. He also mentioned that moving back and forth between being a starter and a reserve was difficult. "There was a lot of back-and-forth in terms of starting and not starting. Obviously, I'm just looking forward to going in this year and hopefully have a little more solidarity in whatever position I'm going to be in." His inconsistency made life difficult for both Warriors fans and fantasy owners.

Harrison Barnes will be working on his ball-handling this offseason.

Barnes was electric during the 2012-13 playoffs, but his play fell off substantially this past season. A lot of that had to do with Andre Iguodala coming in and creating a logjam at the position, but Harrison's shooting percentage fell as well to 39.9 percent. Perhaps incoming head coach Steve Kerr will better be able to utilize the former seventh overall pick from the 2012 draft. "I think Harrison Barnes can improve a lot when the ball is swung, when there's good spacing," said Kerr.

Harrison Barnes scored six points on 3-of-7 shooting with seven rebounds, five assists and three steals in Monday's win over the Wolves.

Barnes doesn't have any nagging injuries that we're aware of and Mark Jackson will rest a lot of key guys on Wednesday, and it will also be a good time for the Warriors to try and get the disappointing sophomore ready for the playoffs. Tonight's line wasn't half bad, and he's worth a speculative, lower-end play on a busy 15-game night on Wednesday.

Harrison Barnes will start against the Wolves on Monday night with Andre Iguodala (knee) out.

He hasn't been effective as the start, making just 40.2 percent from the field for averages of 11.6 points, 4.5 boards, 1.0 steals and 0.8 triples. Barnes isn't much of an option despite offering some upside.
