Isaiah Thomas PG PHO 12 Days1 Comment

Thomas led the team in scoring on Thursday against Flamengo of Brazil. He came off the bench to close with 18 points (5-9 FG, 6-7 FT, 2-4 3Pt), four assists, two rebounds, and three steals in 21 minutes, azcentral reports.

Thomas provided energy and a scoring punch off of the bench, that was especially needed after the team fell into a defect in the first quarter. He helped lead a couple comebacks by the team, before a 17-0 run that the Suns didn't look back from. Thomas' presence did a few things, first it allowed the suns to continue playing at an uptempo pace when one or both of their starting guards were off the floor. Second, it allowed the other guards to get rest and not overexert themselves. Thomas' solid play should be reassuring to those wary of how he can produce on the guard-heavy Suns. However, those looking to draft the guard should continue to see how Hornacek uses Thomas through the rest of the preseason.

Thomas (wrist) will be limited during Tuesday's practice, Paul Coro of AZCentral.com reports.

Thomas underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left wrist back in August and remains slightly limited as camp opens. It doesn't appear to be anything that will hamper him long-term, however, so consider him day-to-day at this point. Thomas will compete with Goran Dragic and newly signed Eric Bledsoe for playing time in what is shaping up to be a crowded Phoenix backcourt.

Thomas underwent athroscopic surgery on his left wrist Thursday.

Thomas essentially underwent a clean-up procedure on his wrist, which isn't expected to cause him to miss any time in the regular season. In fact, the Suns expect him to be ready to participate fully at the start of training camp. Barring any injury, the newly-acquired Thomas is expected to serve as the sixth man in the Phoenix rotation in 2014-15.

Isaiah Thomas told media during Monday's introductory press conference that he decided to sign with Phoenix because they made him "feel wanted."

"I wanted to feel wanted. They brought me in and liked me for being me," said Thomas. "They want me and I want to be here." That's probably a very nice feeling for Thomas after spending the past three seasons with an organization that never really wanted him. Thomas will bring a potent scoring punch to the second unit in Phoenix, or he could become a starter if restricted free agent Eric Bledsoe leaves via free agency. Either way, Thomas should be able to provide solid value with whatever role he holds in Phoenix's high-octane offense.

Newly signed Phoenix guard Isaiah Thomas put up 47 points at the annual Pro-Am in Seattle.

The numbers NBA stars put up at these games are largely meaningless as no one really plays tough defense, but 47 points is still 47 points. Click the link below if you'd like to see some of IT2's impressive highlights from his Pro-Am debut.

Suns GM Ryan McDonough spoke highly of Isaiah Thomas in a recent interview.

"We think Isaiah was one of the most efficient scorers in the league last year," McDonough said. "We feel like the strength of our team is the backcourt. We feel like this move has made us even stronger in the backcourt. We were very good when Goran Dragic and Eric Bledsoe were on the court, and we think Isaiah Thomas is that caliber of player where if you can have one or two of those guys on the court at all times, you really don't have any dropoff scoring-wise. You always have multiple weapons. You have guys who can run pick-and-rolls from either side of the floor and can push the floor in transition." Despite the plethora of point guards in Phoenix, Thomas shouldn't struggle with getting minutes, and he could have solid value in the sixth man role.

The Sun and Kings are reportedly finalizing a sign-and-trade deal sending Isaiah Thomas to Phoenix.

The deal is reportedly for four-years and $27 million. Sacramento management has never been too high on Thomas often citing his size and ignoring his statistical output. Regardless, Thomas has landed himself in a pretty nice situation in Phoenix's uptempo system, and he figures to be the teams sixth man.

Restricted FA Isaiah Thomas said that he'd prefer to join the Lakers, Mavericks or Suns, but he's also been contacted by the Heat and Pistons.

"I don't know if [the Kings] really want me like other teams do," said Thomas. "I know that [my] being 5'9" scares a lot of people, because that's not the prototypical starting point guard in the NBA ... I'm going to show teams and show people that I am a legitimate starting point guard." He posted top-25 fantasy value in big minutes as a starter last season, ranking as the seventh most valuable point guard on a cumulative basis.

Restricted free agent Isaiah Thomas is visiting with the Phoenix Suns on Thursday, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

It seems like a foregone conclusion that Thomas will not be back with the Kings next year, despite having the best season of his young career. The Suns are looking to add depth to their already talented back court, and perhaps a little insurance in case 2014-2015 restricted free agent Eric Bledsoe becomes hard to retain.

Isaiah Thomas has likely spent his last days in a Kings uniform, and the Lakers have emerged as a "real possibility," according to sources.

The Kings will be willing to keep Isaiah at the right price, but they don't seem to be willing to spend much money on the undersized guard. LA has enough cap room to offer Thomas a decent amount of money, but that won't happen until Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James are off the board. Detroit is also in the mix, and they would reportedly be open to a sign-and-trade, while the Heat are also in the running. For some reason management in Sacramento doesn't view Thomas as a worthwhile asset to the franchise.
