Lavoy Allen admitted he "didn't have a really good year" during his sophomore season.

Allen had his first child three days into training camp which may have had an impact on him throughout the season. "Up and down," Allen added. He averaged 5.8 points and 5.0 rebounds, but he drew consistent ire from Doug Collins for not playing with the aggression he needed to. He's under contract for $3.1 million next season.

Doug Collins wants Lavoy Allen to play "with motor."

"We need him. Our big guys are so important to us. He can shoot. He has a good feel for the game. With Lavoy, it's never just about the talent." This is the umpteenth time Collins has made a comment like this about Allen, who promised to be "more focused" and to get in "better shape" for next season.

Doug Collins praised Lavoy Allen for his energy and hustle in recent games.

"I expected more out of Lavoy this year because of the way he finished [last season]," said Collins. "I tell [Allen and rookie Arnett Moultrie] to watch a guy like [Kenneth] Faried from Denver and look at a tape of him and how he runs the floor every possession." The Manimal's energy is a high bar for any big man, but it's nice to see Allen ending the season on a high note.

LaVoy Allen suffered a right ankle sprain and is expected to return to Friday's game.

He got his ankle re-taped and we'll see how it responds for the rest of the game. Allen has played 16.9 minutes per game in the last 10 games and doesn't have much fantasy value while Spencer Hawes is playing well.

The 76ers won in Sacramento with a boost from Lavoy Allen, who scored a season-high 20 points off the bench on 9-of-13 shooting, with seven rebounds and one assist.

Just how unexpected was Allen's outburst? He was averaging 0.6 points in his previous three games and hadn't scored more than five points in a game all month. The Sixers had a ridiculous 96 shot attempts vs. the Kings tonight, on their way to 117 points, and this has all the makings of a fluke.

Lavoy Allen had eight points, six rebounds, a steal and two blocks on Wednesday, but was benched to start the second half in favor of Damien Wilkins.

Wilkins played 26 minutes and had 13 points, three rebounds and two assists, while Spencer Hawes was also benched after the Sixers were dominated by the Minnesota bigs. Allen has been filling in for injured Thaddeus Young, but he's due back soon and Allen's run, what little of it there was, is almost over.

Lavoy Allen played 29 minutes against the Clippers on Monday and had four points, two rebounds and one steal.

He exploded on Saturday with 14 points and 22 boards, but there's little doubt that will be his best line of the year. Allen should be better his next time out and he had a really tough matchup with the Clippers big men putting a highlight reel together. Those that picked him up on deeper leagues shouldn't make any hasty cuts at this time.
