Nikola Vucevic PF/C ORL 2 Days

Vucevic (Achilles) is hopeful that a contract extension can be reached with the Magic before the Oct. 31 deadline, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Vucevic will likely have to prove the ability to avoid injury throughout training camp and the preseason slate, but when healthy, he has proved to be a beast in the post for the Magic, averaging a double-double in each campaign with the organization. Overall, he's posted 13.6 points (on 51 percent shooting), 11.5 boards, 1.8 assists, 0.9 blocks, and 0.9 steals in 32.6 minutes per outing. On the other hand, he's missed 30 of a possible 164 games, or 18.3 percent, during that span -- including the final seven contests of last year due to an Achilles injury -- which makes him a risk in upcoming drafts.

Magic coach Jacque Vaughn said that he can see that Nikola Vucevic is becoming more comfortable on the basketball court.

"He's feeling more comfortable on the floor," Vaughn said. "Even when he gets the ball in the post, the comfort level of seeing cutters and passing out of the post. I just think he's more comfortable." Vucevic rebounding has been a constant, but he'll need to work on establishing himself as a consistent scorer during his third season in Orlando. If Vucevic can stay healthy (he only made it through 57 games last season), while taking another step-up in the scoring department, he can be a very rewarding early-mid-round selection.

Nikola Vucevic and the Magic are expected to talk about a contract extension around Labor Day.

He'll be able to get an extension before the season starts, or else he'll be a restricted free agent in the summer of 2015. Vucevic caught a huge break in the Dwight Howard trade and his skills have been maximized by the Magic. He doesn't have any competition yet again and should be able to post double-doubles on a regular basis.

The Magic will be able to extend Nikola Vucevic's contract between July and November first, and he has said he'd like to stay in Orlando.

If an extension isn't reached, Vucevic would be a restricted free agent next summer, giving the Magic the right to match any offer he may receive. Vucevic had a nice season that ended early due to an Achilles injury.

Nikola Vucevic (Achilles) has been ruled out for the season by the team.

It's a strange story for Vucevic and his injury suddenly popped up on Apr. 4. He was ruled out minutes before that game tipped and it will cost him the final seven games of the year. He built off his breakout 2012-13 with averages of 14.2 points, 11.0 boards and 0.8 blocks in 2013-14. Vucevic be a No. 1 center option in fantasy leagues next season. Kyle O'Quinn is still a must-start player while Tobias Harris also gets some added value.

Nikola Vucevic (Achilles) will not play in Friday's game against the Wizards.

It will be Vucevic's fourth straight game on the sideline. The Magic aren't shutting him down though, as he will travel with the team for their Sunday/Monday road swing at Brooklyn and Chicago. Look for unappealing Dewayne Dedmon to draw another start at center Friday night.

Nikola Vucevic (Achilles) will not play vs. the Nets on Wednesday.

His left Achilles tendon is still too sore for Orlando to risk playing him in a somewhat meaningless game. His absence should result in another start at center for Dewayne Dedmon, though the Magic may go smaller with Kyle O'Quinn at center and Andrew Nicholson at PF.

Nikola Vucevic's sore Achilles tendon is feeling better on Tuesday, but the Magic will reevaluate him after today's practice.

It sounds like he should play on Wednesday against the Nets, but owners will want to continue to watch for further updates prior to that game.

The Magic fell 93-98 at home on Sunday despite a strong game from Nikola Vucevic, who scored 22 points with 10 rebounds, four assists, one steal and two blocks.

The 23-year-old center made 10-of-13 shots and he's now scored at least 20 points in three consecutive games for the first time in his NBA career. Orlando's stretch of three-game weeks has been a drag for fantasy owners but at least Vucevic is heating up at the right time.

Nikola Vucevic went off in the Magic's 110-105 overtime win over the Bobcats on Friday, scoring 24 points on 11-of-22 shooting with 23 rebounds and one assist.

Vooch didn't have any steals or blocks but we're pretty sure most folks are okay with that. Maurice Harkless maintained some low-end appeal with nine points, five boards, one steal, three blocks and a trey, and Kyle O'Quinn was his normal steady self with 13 points, seven boards and two blocks in the win.
