Tristan Thompson PF/C CLE 1 Day
Thompson moved into the starting lineup against the Magic Friday. He scored nine points (3-8 FG, 3-3 FT) and grabbed 13 rebounds in 40 minutes.
Friday marks just the second game since Anderson Varejao (Achilles) was lost for the season. On Thursday, the Cavaliers went with a small lineup against the the Heat, who were forced into a small lineup of their own due to a series of injuries. On Friday against the Magic, who play a much larger lineups, the Cavaliers went big and started Thompson. Thompson has outplayed Shawn Marion in both game, but it is possible that Thompson's move to the starting lineup was matchup based, and not necessarily a sign of things to come. Assuming the move is a permanent one, Thompson can be a strong source of rebounds, a good source of blocks, and a liability from free throw line.

Thompson will start at center against the Magic on Friday, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
The recent season-ending Achilles injury to Anderson Varejao is affording Thompson this opportunity, although it's not a given that he'll be a starter moving forward. Nevertheless, he'll likely see a bump in minutes Friday.
Tristan Thompson PF/C CLE 3 Days
Thompson will remain in his usual bench role Thursday, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Coach David Blatt opted to go with a smaller lineup that features Shawn Marion at power foward and shifts Kevin Love to center. Thompson is a poor per-minute stat producer, so he would need upward of 36 minutes per game to be worth using in most standard leagues. As long as he's in a bench role, Thompson is unlikely to have enough value to bother rostering in most leagues.

Thompson appears in line to assume a starting role following Wednesday's news that Anderson Varejao will miss the remainder of the season with a torn Achilles tendon, Yahoo! Sports reports.
Thompson has been averaging 8.8 points and 7.1 rebounds over 26 minutes per night, but those figures could creep closer to the double digits if the move to the starting lineup results in an uptick in playing time. Despite the diminished role this season, Thompson is shooting a career-best 54.1 percent and is also sporting the lowest turnover rate of his four NBA seasons.
Tristan Thompson PF/C CLE 4 Days
Thompson had five points (2-4 FG, 1-2 FT) and nine rebounds in 27 minutes in the win over the Timberwolves on Tuesday.
Thompson should get a bump in fantasy value because Anderson Varejao (knee/ankle) left the game after a nasty-looking injury. In his lone start this season, Thompson provided 13 points and 11 rebounds, and he should edge toward double-double production when he gets into the starting lineup.
Tristan Thompson PF/C CLE 8 Days
Thompson provided nine points (3-5 FG, 3-4 FT) and 10 rebounds in the win over Brooklyn on Friday. He played 27 minutes.
Thompson played 10 more minutes than Anderson Varejao and used the extra playing time well. He had only grabbed 10 combined boards in his previous two games.
Tristan Thompson PF/C CLE 16 Days
Thompson recorded a line of 14 points (4-8 FG, 6-8 FT), 13 rebounds, one assist, and two blocks. He turned the ball over three times in 30 minutes off the bench.
Thompson was huge off the bench in the loss to the Thunder on Thursday. He had a double-double and really did a lot of the dirty work that doesn't show up on the stat sheet. Thompson, however, is not a recommended play in standard fantasy leagues at this point in time.
Tristan Thompson PF/C CLE 22 Days
Thompson enjoyed home cooking with 21 points (8-13 FG, 5-8 FT) and 14 rebounds in Friday's win at Toronto.
Thompson received more playing time because Anderson Varejao was in early foul trouble. When the fourth-year forward gets at least 30 minutes, he produces fantasy relevant stats. In his previous two games, Thompson averaged just 4.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 25.5 minutes.
Tristan Thompson PF/C CLE 25 Days
Thompson provided six points (3-4 FG) and three rebounds in 26 minutes in the win over Milwaukee on Tuesday.
Anderson Varejao (ribs) returned to the lineup, so Thompson went back to a reserve role and his production showed his lack of playing time. Thompson showed he can provide double-doubles when given starting minutes, but that will not be the case while Varejao is healthy.
Tristan Thompson PF/C CLE 28 Days
Thompson started in place of the injured Anderson Varejao (ribs), and had his second double-double of the season, scoring 13 points (4-8 FG, 5-10 FT) with 11 rebounds and one block in 39 minutes Saturday.
Thompson has also blocked a shot in the last five games and if he continues to start, is worth a look in most leagues for his ability to accumulate rebounds and blocks. When Varejao returns though, Thompson's minutes will be limited, restricting his value to deeper leagues.
