Kyrie Irving PG CLE 29 Days

Kyrie Irving is prepping for the World Cup of Basketball in Las Vegas, but he's already planning the 2014-15 season with new teammate LeBron James.

Irving is taking part in Team USA's training camp in Vegas, but is already talking to LeBron James about the 2014-15 season. "At first you were speechless because you couldn't believe it," Irving said. "I've been watching LeBron for a while now and it's nice to be going to run along side of him and be his point guard." Irving averaged 20.8 points, 6.1 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.7 three-pointers a game last season and should see his fantasy value increase with King James as his running mate.

Kyrie Irving officially signed his max contract extension with the Cavaliers on Thursday.

Although the terms of the contract were not given in the teams' official press release, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reported that the deal is for five years, and is worth $90 million. Irving has proven himself to be one of the best young point guards in the NBA, and should be a first-round selection in all fantasy basketball drafts.

Kyrie Irving reportedly made a recruiting pitch to LeBron James, and said that the Cavs will give LeBron all the help he needs.

There is a lot of talk out there about LeBron making a potential return to the franchise that drafted him. And while it's impossible to know what LeBron is thinking, it would be a bit shocking to see him return to a team whose fan base posted numerous videos of themselves burning his jersey, and whose owner publicly scorned his existence upon his departure. Stay tuned.

The Cavaliers and Kyrie Irving have agreed on a max, 5-year contract extension, according to Yahoo! Sports.

The deal, which can be signed on July 10, is worth $90 million and this is the first big move of free agency. Locking down Irving for the next six years is also a massive win for Dan Gilbert and the Cavaliers, as the chances of Irving signing elsewhere were at least a possibility. Now let's just hope he can stay healthy and live up to the hype, as he's had his share of ups and downs during his time in Cleveland.

The Cavaliers have narrowed their search for a head coach to four candidates -- David Blatt, Alvin Gentry, Tyronn Lue, and Mark Price.

Beat writer Bob Finnan writes that the Cavs "could pick their next head coach by the end of the week." Gentry and Lue may be the front-runners, since Price has yet to interview for a second time and Blatt is also being pursued by the Warriors for an assistant coach job, which he may accept if the Cavaliers don't quickly offer him a job.

Kyrie Irving is expected to see a max five-year extension from the Cavs, according to the Plain Dealer.

There are previous reports of the Cavs not offering Irving a max deal, but this one calls those reports "simply wrong." His offer will likely be similar to Paul George's five-year, $90 million deal from last season. Irving was a starter for the All-Star Game and his offensive skill set is among the best, but he will need to improve a bit on defense.

The Cavaliers may not offer Kyrie Irving a maximum contract extension on July 1, according to beat writer Bob Finnan.

Finnan writes that the "scuttlebutt around the league" is that the Cavaliers may not view Irving as a max-salary talent, and they may be leery of ongoing rumors leaked from Irving's camp that he wants out of Cleveland. Irving wasn't consulted in the decision to fire coach Mike Brown and if he isn't offered a max extension he may demand to be traded, but for now we're just passing along the latest rumors and speculation.

Kyrie Irving was not consulted prior to Mike Brown's firing, according to Cavaliers GM David Griffin.

Griffin, who was just promoted from interim GM on Monday, said that any insinuation that Irving pushed for Brown to be fired is ""patently false." It's unclear whether or not the Cavaliers will consult Irving before hiring a new coach, but doing so could go a long way towards ensuring that Irving signs a max-extension with the Cavs when his contract is up in 2016. For now, George Karl, Mark Jackson, Steve Kerr, Mike D'Antoni, and Alvin Gentry are just a few of the names that have surfaced as potential head coaches for Cleveland.

The Cavaliers don't want to set expectations too high with Kyrie Irving.

Cavs acting GM, David Griffin, spoke about the state of the team on Tuesday and made sure he didn't heap unrealistic expectations on Kyrie, "He's 22 years old. We have to have very realistic expectations for him." He also tangentially addressed the Irving-Dion Waiters rift by saying, "This is not something that is done in a vacuum. It's not the two of them. It's not about their fit. It's about our fit." There have been rumors that Irving wants out of Cleveland, but it sounds like the Cavs are doing everything possible to make him feel comfortable in an effort to build around the young star.

Kyrie Irving said Wednesday that he's "excited" about the possibility of getting a max-exception from the Cavaliers, and that he'll make the best decision for him and his family if and when it happens.

"Obviously, I'm aware I can be extended this summer," he said. "It's a big deal for me if they do offer me that. It will be exciting. I'll make the best decision for me and my family. That's what it will boil down to." While it's good that he's "excited," he clearly is leaving his options open. And after having his maturity constantly questioned in Cleveland this season, as well as media reports that he has wanted out for years, and of infighting behind close doors, it still seems a bit of a longshot to think Irving will sign a long-term deal with the Cavs, although anything is possible.
