Aminu has shown improved production and versatility in recent weeks, playing backup minutes at three positions to help secure a larger role, ESPN reports. "He's playing a lot of different positions. He's playing backup center, he's playing power forward, he's playing small forward. He guarded some of the perimeter guys. He's doing a really solid job," coach Rick Carlisle said.Aminu has seen his role expand over the last two weeks. Through 14 games in January, he averaged 4.8 points (on 29 percent shooting) in 15 minutes per game. Now, through the first four games of February, Aminu has averaged 8.0 points (on 45 percent shooting), 6.3 rebounds, 1.8 steals, 2.0 blocks, and 0.8 three-pointers in 25 mpg. While it's hard to imagine Aminu getting much more than the 25 mpg he's receiving at the moment, the fact that he's putting up such great defensive numbers makes him an interesting player to consider adding in deeper leagues, and those managers desperate for steals and blocks in standard leagues could do worse than having Aminu on the end of their bench.

Aminu started with Dirk Nowitzki (rest) out Thursday, but scored just two points (1-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt) in 22 minutes. He finished the game with four rebounds, an assist and two steals.

Aminu even played fewer minutes than Charlie Villanueva, who jacked up 14 shots Thursday in a blowout win of the Kings. Aminu hasn't scored more than 16 points in a game this season, and that mark came all the way back in October. He's only been seeing more playing time as of late, but just doesn't produce enough on the offensive end to be an option in standard leagues.

Aminu will start for Dirk Nowitzki (rest) at Sacramento on Thursday, the Cowbell Kingdom reports.

Aminu has started two games this season, but a better indicator of his potential Thursday is his output the past five contests: 9.4 points (on 52 percent shooting), 6.8 rebounds, 2.6 steals, 1.8 blocks, 1.4 assists, and 0.8 three-pointers in 26 minutes per game. Because he can contribute across the board, he's a sneaky daily fantasy play.
