Coach Scott Brooks is hoping his team will get into the top 10 for assists per game.

They were tied for 13th in assists per game last season and just 26th in total passes per game, so ball movement hasn't been a strong suit for the Thunder. Of course, when a team has the top two players in usage rate, it's unlikely to lead to a well-balanced attack. The roles of Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant shouldn't change much with both guys expected to have big seasons.

Russell Westbrook will not play for Team USA during this summer's World Cup in Spain.

There is no specific reason given but it's obviously to rest up after a season that included his third knee surgery. And we're down with anything that keeps Westbrook healthy over the long haul.

Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant were complimentary of coach Scott Brooks in their exit interviews.

"Ever since I've been here and Scotty became the head coach, he's done a great job of having confidence in me personally," said Westbrook. It's true that Scott Brooks has been a constant supporter of Westbrook, but his unimaginative offense has really put him on the hot seat. If OKC is to truly compete for a championship, they'll need some additional help off the bench, and a more creative offense. Durant, as always, showed his loyalty to his coach: "That's our guy. I'm riding with him."

Russell Westbrook scored 34 points during Saturday's season-ending loss to the Spurs, adding seven boards, eight assists, six steals, seven turnovers and one 3-pointer in 44 minutes.

He continues to stuff the stat sheet, but will probably get some bad ink just because he had a couple bad plays. Westbrook proved to be one of the best players in the league and the way he takes chances makes him the great player that he is. The fact of the matter is that the Thunder just don't have any real depth behind their best four players. Of course, there will not be many changes next season with two of the best players in the league.

Russell Westbrook scored 21 points with four boards, seven assists, three steals, two 3-pointers and two turnovers in 31 minutes during Thursday's 117-89 loss to the Spurs.

It may be hard to believe, but Westbrook has been a bigger threat to the Spurs than Kevin Durant in the past few games. He's been attacking the basket a ton in this series with 46 percent of his shots coming from in the paint in his previous four games. On the other hand, he's shot just 31.3 percent from outside the paint in that span. Westbrook will look to pick it up in Game 6 on Saturday.

Russell Westbrook hit 12-of-24 shots, two 3-pointers and 14-of-14 free throws on his way to a season-high 40 points, five rebounds, 10 assists, five steals and a block in Tuesday's 105-92 win, as the Thunder tied the Spurs at 2-2 with a home win in Game 4.

Westbrook was a beast on both ends of floor tonight and was the reason the Spurs never had a chance in this one. He also became one of only two players over the last 30 years with 40 points, 10 assists, five rebounds and five steals in a playoff game, the other being Michael Jordan. Kevin Durant was the only other Thunder player in double figures, as he hit 11-of-22 shots and two 3-pointers for 31 points, five rebounds, five assists, three steals and a block. After getting blown out in Games 1 and 2, the Thunder bounced back at home, but the Spurs still hold the advantage, with Games 5 & 7 back in San Antonio. The Thunder starters have also logged very heavy minutes through four games, while Tim Duncan led the Spurs starters with just 26 minutes tonight.

Russell Westbrook downplayed an exchange of words he had with Kevin Durant during Wednesday's Game 2 loss to the Spurs.

Westbrook was seen pointing to his head with both hands and yelling in Durant's direction after the Spurs put together a 22-8 run before halftime, but Westbrook downplayed the interaction after the game. "I was just getting on Kevin about some stuff and he got on me right back," Westbrook said. "That's what teammates do, that's what leaders do, we get on each other, we come back and we talk about it and then we come out like nothing ever happened." Both Durant and Westbrook failed to score more than 15 points and both shot below 33 percent from the field, so the Thunder will need their two stars to get on the same page if they have any chance of winning Sunday's Game 3.

Russell Westbrook had a horrible showing in Game 2's loss to the Spurs on Wednesday, making 7-of-24 from the field for 15 points with five boards, five assists, two steals and one 3-pointer.

You live by the Russ, you die by the Russ. He kept taking bad shots and was gambling too often on defense. Westbrook has been so ball dominate when on the court lately that it might not be a bad idea to play him when Kevin Durant needs a rest. Westbrook played 36 minutes with 34 minutes next to Durant in Game 1 while tonight just three of his 29 minutes were not next to KD. It wouldn't make sense almost any other time, but the lineups used without KD and Westy are just that bad. Yes, desperate times call for desperate measures.

Russell Westbrook double-doubled in Thursday's win over the Clippers with 19 points, three rebounds, 12 assists, two steals and five turnovers in 39 minutes.

He shot 4-of-15 from the field tonight and missed all four shots from deep, but he did a great job spreading the ball around. The Thunder are now 8-2 in playoff games when Westbrook puts up a double-double with points and assists, so he's just as dangerous as a passer as a scorer. One of these days everyone is going to get off his back and recognize he's one of the best players in the NBA.

OKC's Russell Westbrook hit 11-of-23 shots and two 3-pointers for 38 points, five rebounds, six assists and three steals in Tuesday's amazing comeback win over the Clippers to take a 3-2 lead in their series.

Westbrook took a very shaky 3-point shot with the game on the line, which he missed badly, but it was ruled that Westbrook was fouled by Chris Paul. Westbrook hit all three free throws, and then the Thunder were given the ball with 11.3 seconds left after a replay official gave the ball to OKC, when it (appeared to) clearly go off OKC's Reggie Jackson. CP3 turned the ball over too much late, Jamal Crawford took too many ill-advised shots, and the Clippers were simply not prepared for their last possession (thinking it would be their ball), when Paul lost the ball on the last possession and the Thunder snuck away with the improbable win. The Thunder were down by 13 points with 1.5 minutes left in the game, and somehow came out with the win. It will be interesting to see what the NBA says about this one after reviewing all the tape, while the Thunder went on a 17-3 run to take the game. Game 6 is in Los Angeles on Thursday.
