West signed with Guaros de Lara of the Venezuelan league on Monday, Sportando reports. West, who has not played in the NBA since 2012 and is 31 years old, will head to Venezuela after playing previously in China.

Doc Rivers cited Delonte West's willingness to sacrifice his body on every play as a reason as to why he decided to give West a second chance, and Summer League invite. "He's just doing out there what he always does - he's been one of the best players in the summer league," said Rivers. "I would rather have that guy who puts his body on the line every time... Maybe that's why our relationship was so close. Fans love guys who give everything, and Delonte is one of those guys" Rivers has always been a fan of West, but he stopped short of guaranteeing West a training camp invite. "I have no idea [if Delonte will be given an invite to training camp]. Right now we have 1,000 guards. But if the situation fits, then we'll see."

Delonte West sprained his right ankle during Tuesday's Summer League game, and he will not return. West is trying to resuscitate his NBA career with a strong showing with the Clippers' squad, so this is a particularly tough break for the veteran SG.

Delonte West will attempt to showcase himself playing for the Clippers' Summer League team, and he hopes to secure a training camp invite. "The biggest thing personally is just to show teams that any off-the-court issues or things like that are behind me," said West, who was waived by the Dallas Mavericks in October 2012 after being suspended for conduct detrimental to the team. "Those things don't affect what I do on the basketball court. All I am ready to do is play basketball and win games, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to help the Clippers." West's on-court/off-court issues have been well documented, but he is a serviceable backup point guard, and if he is able to land on a roster it will be a nice story. West attributes his newfound maturity to fatherhood.

Delonte West will play in the Summer League for the Clippers after a two year hiatus. West has been out of the league since the 2011-2012 season where he played for the Dallas Mavericks. Now it appears his former head coach in Boston and current Clippers coach and VP of basketball operations Doc Rivers is giving him a chance to prove he can still contribute on the NBA level. In his last season West averaged 9.6 points in 20 minutes of action.

Delonte West has reportedly signed with a team in China. This should put the wraps on West's controversial and colorful NBA career, although it wouldn't be too surprising to see him come back after the Chinese season is over, if he has a great year.

Delonte West has bulked up to 200 pounds in anticipation of a training camp invite from an NBA team. West said that he is healthy and "still [has] a lot of basketball left." It sounds like he's ready to accept the veteran's minimum to land a guaranteed deal, but first he needs to convince teams that he can control his emotions during the season. New York and Memphis have both been mentioned as potential landing spots.

Delonte West says he's healthy, in shape and wants to resume his career. West spent last year out of the league after the Mavs cut him on Oct. 29. The Knicks and Grizzlies were both reportedly interested in West, but the Knicks moved on to Beno Udrih. It's unclear if the Grizzlies are still interested in his services. West said he's willing to take a nonguaranteed deal, but he may also need to spend some time in the D-League. Regardless, West will have to prove himself before he's given anything.

The Knicks are no longer interested in signing Delonte West and could try to sign Bobby Brown before August 15. Beno Udrih is also on the radar for the Knicks. They need a third point guard behind Pablo Prigioni, but perhaps there is a little too much baggage with West. As for Brown, he might wind up overseas without an NBA contract by the 15th. No matter who the Knicks sign, that player will need some players to miss time in order to see double-digit minutes per game.

The Knicks and Grizzlies are in contact with Delonte West. He's looking to make his way back to the NBA after getting the Mavericks cut him on October 29. Tony Allen said that he'd love to add West to the Grizzlies and the Knicks could use another guard on their roster, too. Regardless of where he lands, he'd have to prove himself for minutes.
