West (ankle) will miss at least the first three games of the regular season.

He had hoped to be ready for the start of the season, but this shouldn't be a huge surprise, considering how serious the ankle sprain was. Luis Scola figures to start at power forward for the Pacers in the first three games, and West will be reevaluated prior to the Nov. 4 game against Milwaukee.

West (ankle) says he expects to be ready for the start of the regular season.

It sounds like he's dealing with a pretty serious ankle sprain, and was wearing a walking boot and using a cane Monday, but West's optimism for the season opener is a good sign.

West suffered a severe ankle sprain in Saturday's preseason game and will miss the remainder of the preseason, the Indianapolis Star's Autumn Allison reports.

He was wearing a walking boot and using a cane at Monday's practice, saying, "I sprained it really good." It would not be surprising to see him miss a few regular season games too, although the Pacers likely won't rule him out for those until closer to the start of the season.

West (ankle) will have an MRI on Monday, the Indianapolis Star reports.

The results of the MRI should shed some light on the extent of West's injury, which caused him to leave Saturday's preseason game against Dallas. Luis Scola will be tasked with taking the bulk of West's minutes, though it is unclear how much time the Pacers expect West to miss (if any) once the games begin to count next week.

West, who left Saturday's preseason game against Dallas with a sprained right ankle, underwent X-rays that were negative, the Indianapolis Star's Michael Pointer reports.

Coach Frank Vogel confirmed the negative X-rays in his postgame press conference, but he did not have any information about how much time West might miss. "No idea," Vogel said. "We just know it's a sprained ankle." The Pacers plan to evaluate West again in a day or two, at which time we might get some idea of a timetable for his return.

West has a sprained right ankle and will not return to Saturday's preseason game against Dallas, the Pacers' official site reports.

The Pacers confirmed that it was an ankle injury, but we are still awaiting information about the severity of the sprain. West appeared to be in a lot of pain when he left the floor, but hopefully this is a case of an injury looking worse than it actually is. A team that will be without Paul George (leg) this season, can ill-afford to lose West as well.

West left Saturday's preseason game against Dallas in the third quarter with an apparent right ankle injury, the Indianapolis Star's Michael Pointer reports.

West tried to put weight on his ankle as he was helped off the court, but he was in obvious pain as he left for the locker room. It certainly didn't look good, but we will await further information from the Pacers about the actual severity of the injury. A significant injury to West would be another crippling blow to a team that already will be without Paul George (leg) this season.

West (rest) won't play in Friday's preseason game, Pacers announcer Scott Agness reports.

West isn't injured, but because so much of the Pacers' offense will rest on his shoulders during the regular season, the team is wisely taking it easy on him this preseason.

West could see an expanded role in 2014-15, as the Pacers intend to place a greater emphasis on running their offense through him and center Roy Hibbert, the Indianapolis Star reports.

West already had a significant role last season, averaging 31 minutes and 14.0 points over 80 games started. However, the Pacers are preparing for a 2014-15 campaign without All-Star Paul George, leaving West with potentially more opportunities to contribute on the offensive end. The team will be without both George's 21.7 points per game, and Lance Stephenson's 13.8 scoring average, so they will look for new scoring options in any way possible. Like any other fantasy asset on the Pacers, West's value is set to increase as the team attempts to compensate for the loss of their superstar.

David West said after practice on Thursday that his scratched eye is "alright".

With teammate Paul George's status still up in the air, it is encouraging news that there is little doubt surrounding West. His eye was checked by the team's ophthalmologist on Wednesday and was given clearance to practice. He only managed 10 points in the Pacers' Game 2 loss on Tuesday and was clearly bothered by his scratched eye in the fourth quarter.
