Jason Maxiell PF/C DET 2 Months
Jason Maxiell is "hanging in there" after having surgery to repair a detached retina.
Maxiell will not play again this season and has "likely" played his final game with the Pistons. He'll be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason and Detroit is set to enter next season with a front line of Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond.

Jason Maxiell will miss the rest of the season due to a detached retina.
It's a disappointing end to Maxiell's season, in which he averaged 6.9 points and 5.7 rebounds in 25 minutes per game. His absence makes Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe even more secure options down the stretch, and Jonas Jerebko figures to pick up extra minutes in a reserve role.

Jason Maxiell will not play Sunday vs. Chicago due to an eye injury.
The Pistons don't really need him now that Andre Drummond is back and starting. The absence of Maxiell makes Drummond a must-play option today.
Jason Maxiell PF/C DET 3 Months
Jason Maxiell returned to action on Wednesday from an ankle injury and had eight points and 14 rebounds in 32 minutes.
Maxiell has been hit or miss all season, and mostly a miss. He's just as likely to have three points and three boards as he is to have a big line, so we'd think about looking elsewhere for help off your waiver wire except in the deepest of leagues.

Jason Maxiell (ankle) has returned to the lineup for Wednesday's game.
He missed Monday's game the Pistons are very thin these days with Andre Drummmond (back) and Brandon Knight (ankle) not close to returning. Maxiell is worth a look in deeper leagues.

Jason Maxiell (right ankle sprain) is doubtful to face the Jazz on Monday.
He's played 27.4 minutes per game in his last five and the Pistons are going to be thin up front against Utah. Jonas Jerebko will start and Charlie Villanueva will also get more playing time. Slava Kravtsov could also get an extended look.

Jason Maxiell shot 7-of-12 from the field for 14 points in Wednesday's tough 87-77 loss to the Knicks, adding nine boards and two blocks in 37 minutes.
The Pistons needed all the minutes Maxiell could give and he held up his end of the bargain. Greg Monroe could miss more time, so he's worth a look as a short-term Bandaid in deeper leagues. Jonas Jerebko was also solid with 12 points, four boards, two assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 27 minutes. JJ is also worth a look in deeper leagues.
Jason Maxiell PF/C DET 5 Months
Jason Maxiell logged his fourth double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds in 23 minutes against the Magic on Tuesday.
He hasn't done much in his previous three games with averages of 5.0 points and 5.0 boards. Maxiell won't be worth owning in most leagues while the Pistons are healthy up front.
Jason Maxiell PF/C DET 6 Months
Jason Maxiell posted a skeletal double-double on Sunday with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
He made 5-of-8 shots and handed out three assists, just the sort of competent but uninspiring line we've come to expect from Maxiell. This was his second double-double of the year.
Jason Maxiell PF/C DET 6 Months
Jason Maxiell had just six points, four rebounds and zero blocks in Wednesday's ugly loss to the Raptors.
Maxiell has gone from a rebounding and shot-blocking beast to a guy averaging eight points, three rebounds and less than a block over his last five. And while Lawrence Frank still doesn't sound like he's ready to give up and start Andre Drummond, it simply makes no sense for him not to. The Pistons are 7-21 and have lost six straight games, and replacing Maxiell with Drummond (6 points, 8 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block, 20 minutes) makes sense on every conceivable level. Riding Maxiell was fun when he was hot, but it appears the party is over.
