James Johnson F MEM 11 Days

James Johnson played only one minute during Sunday's 102-90 road win vs. the Lakers.

Johnson had averaged 27 minutes per game over the past three games, with Tayshaun Prince (ankle) sidelined, but his role evaporated with Prince starting at SF. Johnson's contract expires this summer and it will be interesting to see how much interest he draws as a free agent, given his excellent per-minute production as a salvage project in Memphis this season.

James Johnson F MEM 13 Days

James Johnson started for injured Tayshaun Prince (ankle) on Friday against the Sixers, scoring 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting with six rebounds, two assists and one block in 25 minutes.

Johnson would theoretically be a good fit for the Grizzlies over Prince, but it just hasn't worked out in his favor this season. Prince is day-to-day right now so Johnson's fantasy value will be tenuous to finish the year.

James Johnson did not leave the Grizzlies' bench during Friday's win in Chicago.

He recently returned from an ankle injury and there are no indications that his absence was injury-related, so we're chalking this up as a DNP-CD. Mike Miller was hot from downtown, and Kosta Koufos was playing very well and providing necessary size to combat the Bulls, but it wouldn't be surprising to see Johnson back in the rotation for Saturday's game vs. the Bobcats.

James Johnson F MEM 2 Months

James Johnson returned from a sprained ankle on Wednesday, hitting 3-of-7 shots and two 3-pointers for 12 points, one rebound and one assist.

He's cooled off and the injury, along with the return of Tony Allen, isn't helping. Johnson can be dropped for a hot free agent, although we wouldn't be surprised to see him get hot again at some point over the rest of the season.

James Johnson F MEM 2 Months

James Johnson (ankle) will play against the Nets on Wednesday night.

He missed Monday's game and it allowed Tayshaun Prince to score the most points he's ever scored with the Grizzlies vs. the Wizards. Johnson's minutes have taken a hit with Tony Allen coming back, so he's not going to be worth owning while the Grizzlies are close to full strength.

James Johnson (ankle) returned to practice on Tuesday.

It wouldn't be surprising to see him back in the lineup vs. Brooklyn on Wednesday, but for now we'll consider him questionable. Tayshaun Prince surprisingly blew up without Johnson available on Monday, and Mike Miller played well in extended minutes, but neither of them are reliable options in standard fantasy leagues.

James Johnson (right ankle) said he doesn't expect to miss much time with his sprain.

He missed Monday's game due to a sprain suffered on Saturday and it sounds like he should be considered questionable for Wednesday's game vs. the Nets. Tayshaun Prince stepped up on Monday, but he's not a reliable fantasy option.

James Johnson (ankle) will not play against the Wizards on Monday.

The injury likely occurred against the Cavs on Saturday night. He's was a big part of the rotation while the Grizzlies were without Tony Allen, but his playing time has been trending down in the past week. If there's a solid player sitting on the wire, it makes sense to cut Johnson. Allen and Courtney Lee are strong starts tonight.

James Johnson F MEM 2 Months

James Johnson scored 11 points off the bench on Friday against the Thunder, hitting 4-of-8 shots (including a three) with one rebound, three assists and two steals in 22 minutes.

Johnson's minutes have been down but Dave Joerger continues to talk glowingly about him, but Joerger doesn't seem to have the guts to pull back Tayshaun Prince right now. Johnson is playing very well when on the floor and could be a difference-maker for the Grizz, but his current value is sort of in the tank. He has a 12-14 team value over the last month and top-100 value over the last two months, so there is some history for owners to consider if Johnson starts to heat up.

James Johnson F MEM 2 Months

James Johnson, who had 15 points in 18 minutes on Friday, including one of the dunks of the year, played just 10 minutes on Saturday, finishing with just six points and two rebounds.

The minutes have been on the decline and it looks like the Grizz may roll with Tony Allen and Courtney Lee instead of JJ going forward. Friday was somewhat of a fluke given his low minutes, and this could be the beginning of the end for Johnson's run. Allen's only been back for two games, so it's a little early to put Johnson to bed, but early indications are that Allen is going to ruin him. If you want to drop him for a hot free agent, it might make sense as long as Allen (25 minutes) can stay healthy.
