James Johnson F TOR 14 Days

Johnson played 21 minutes off the bench Friday, scoring six points (3-6 FG, 0-1 3P) with six rebounds and two assists.

His role on the Raptors' bench will primarily be a defensive one, so don't expect big fantasy numbers from Johnson, but his ability to play both forward positions should allow him to at least see consistent minutes.

James Johnson said he's over not seeing eye to eye with coach Dwane Casey from back in the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons.

"It never was bad, we had our bumps, but that's war," Johnson said. "It's a war out there when we're playing a game and sometimes you say stuff that you regret or you say stuff that you don't really mean." He won't be seeing major minutes with the Raptors this upcoming season.

James Johnson has reportedly agreed in principle to a two-year contract with the Toronto Rapots.

This will be Johnson's second stint with the Raptors after a mini-breakout season with the Grizzlies in 2013-14. Johnson averaged 8.5 points, 0.5 3-pointers, 4.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.6 blocks in 22 minutes pr game after the All-Star break with the Grizzlies and he could end up being a valuable fantasy asset in standard leagues if he's able to carve out more minutes in Toronto.

James Johnson appears "unlikely" to re-sign with the Grizzlies as a free agent, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

Johnson had a mini-breakout last season with Memphis, particularly before the All-Star break when he averaged 8.5 points, 0.5 triples, 4.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.6 blocks per game. He racked up those numbers in just 22 minutes per contest, and could be a sneaky fantasy pick if he finds the right situation as a free agent. He's facing domestic assault charges stemming from an incident in early June, which may diminish his FA appeal and could lead to a season-opening suspension.

James Johnson's court date is set for Tuesday for domestic assault charges.

It was expected to to take place on last Friday, but was pushed back. Johnson allegedly hit his wife and choked her on June 7, which may affect his status as an unrestricted free agent in some regard.

The Memphis Grizzlies have made their first official statement on the alleged assault involving James Johnson and his wife.

"We are currently gathering information regarding the June 7 report involving James Johnson. We have no further comment at this time." Johnson is currently an unrestricted free agent, and while he was an effective player off the bench for Memphis, this incident could result in them choosing to not bring him back.

Grizzlies forward James Johnson has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife.

The 27-year-old reportedly struck his wife and choked her. Johnson was a solid bench player for Memphis last season but this incident does look promising for his future.

The Grizzlies have a "real interest" in re-signing James Johnson this summer, according to CEO Jason Levien.

Zach Randolph is the Grizzlies' primary focus in free agency, but they'll also have the $5.3 million mid-level exception and the $2.1 million biannual exception, either of which could be used to lure back free agents like Johnson and Mike Miller. Johnson averaged 7.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 1.1 blocks in a mere 18 minutes per game this season, and his defensive stats should keep him on the fantasy radar.

James Johnson played only one minute during Sunday's 102-90 road win vs. the Lakers.

Johnson had averaged 27 minutes per game over the past three games, with Tayshaun Prince (ankle) sidelined, but his role evaporated with Prince starting at SF. Johnson's contract expires this summer and it will be interesting to see how much interest he draws as a free agent, given his excellent per-minute production as a salvage project in Memphis this season.

James Johnson started for injured Tayshaun Prince (ankle) on Friday against the Sixers, scoring 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting with six rebounds, two assists and one block in 25 minutes.

Johnson would theoretically be a good fit for the Grizzlies over Prince, but it just hasn't worked out in his favor this season. Prince is day-to-day right now so Johnson's fantasy value will be tenuous to finish the year.
