Spencer Hawes agreed to a four-year, $23 million deal with the Clippers on Friday.

The Clippers gave a ton of minutes to DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin last season, so they absolutely needed a big man. Glen Davis was basically their best backup big last season, so it makes sense to pay a little more than market value on Hawes. His fantasy value takes an enormous hit here and he's not worth drafting in standard leagues.

Spencer Hawes is visiting with the Suns on Thursday.

The Clippers are believed to be the favorites and want to use their mid-level exception on him. The Suns do have the second-most cap space in the league and could offer Hawes more money and also need a center, so it's really up to them on how they want to play it. The Blazers are also in the mix. Hawes would have the most fantasy value on the Suns.

Spencer Hawes met with the Clippers and Warriors on Tuesday, but he's reportedly "very interested" in signing with the Trail Blazers.

"He likes everything about the Blazers," a source told the Oregonian's Joe Freeman. The Blazers have also pursued Josh McRoberts in free agency, making no secret about their desire to add a big man with 3-point range. Channing Frye is another possible target, but the Blazers may not actively pursue him until Hawes is out of the running -- working against Portland is the fact that they can't offer more than $5.3 million annually over a four-year contract.

Spencer Hawes has emerged as the Trail Blazers' top target in free agency.

Blazers' general manager Neil Olshey and coach Terry Stotts visited representatives for Hawes in Los Angeles late Monday night shortly after free agency began and the meeting "went very well", according to reports. The most that Portland can offer the unrestricted free agent is $5.3 million per year over four years, so Hawes would be taking a bit of a pay cut from the $6.5 million he earned last season if he signs with the Blazers. The 26-year-old averaged 13.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists last season and would continue to be a solid mid-level fantasy big man if he signs with Portland.

Spencer Hawes may be too expensive for the Clippers, according to the Los Angeles Times.

He is believed to be seeking a deal worth around $8 million per year, which is up around $6.5 million last year. Hawes is also getting interest from the Mavs, Rockets and Blazers, which means some team may wind up paying him what he wants.

Spencer Hawes is drawing interest from contenders such as the Blazers, Clippers, Rockets and Mavs, in addition to the incumbent Cavs.

Hawes continued to produce in Cleveland after getting all he could eat in terms of touches in Philly. He's injury-prone and not the best locker room guy, but a stretch-five that isn't terrible can command a decent return these days. The Cavs and Blazers might have the inside track here as Hawes still makes his home in nearby Seattle, and Terry Stotts broke down exactly how he'd use Hawes in a recent meeting, per Adrian Wojnarowski.

Spencer Hawes will be the "main priority" for the Cavaliers in free agency this summer, according to Terry Pluto of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

"Assuming [GM David Griffin] remains the general manager, he will make a strong push to keep the center," Pluto writes. "Griffin values big men who can pass and shoot. In fact, the Cavs have been asking Hawes to shoot even more." Hawes is averaging a career-high 14.1 points and 1.8 threes per game since joining the Cavaliers, to go along with 7.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0 blocks.

Spencer Hawes had 20 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four 3-pointers in Wednesday's win over the Magic.

The key here is that Anderson Varejao (shoulder) was out and could miss multiple more games. It allowed Hawes to play 34 minutes in this one and not look over his shoulder. Lock him back into all lineups.

Spencer Hawes scored 16 points with five rebounds, two assists and two blocks in just 22 minutes of action vs. the Nets on Friday.

Hawes scored all but one of his points in the first half, and his lack of defense may have prompted coach Mike Brown to rely more heavily on Anderson Varejao (eight points, 13 rebounds) in the second half. Hawes' role has taken a sharp turn for the worse since mid-March, and he's averaging a mere 21.4 minutes in Cleveland's past five games.

Spencer Hawes hit just 2-of-4 shots for four points, six rebounds, a steal and a block in 24 minutes on Wednesday.

Hawes has seen his minutes dry up (between 17 and 24 in last four) with the strong play of Anderson Varejao lately, and has scored seven or fewer points in three of his last four games. It was a nice run, but as long as Varejao is healthy and playing, things aren't looking good for Hawes.
