Green (calf) scored nine points (3-12 FG, 1-5 3P, 2-6 FT) with five rebounds in 31 minutes during Wednesday's preseason loss to the Raptors.

The rust showed in Green's first action of the preseason, but the big workload is a good sign that he's healthy, and he has enough time before the start of the regular season to get up to speed. If the Celtics' young front court of Jared Sullinger and Kelly Olynyk can take some of the offensive pressure off Green, he should be able to improve on last season's numbers.

Green (calf) will not play in Monday's preseason opener against the 76ers, ESPN Boston reports.

Green is dealing with a minor calf injury, so playing in Monday's first exhibition contest is less important than ensuring he's healthy moving forward. Jeff Green could be a potential offseason target of the Washington Wizards, according to reports.

There is no indication that the Wizards and Celtics have had discussions about Green, but Green has been "long coveted" by the Wizards according to Zach Lowe of Grantland. Trevor Ariza is a free agent after this season, so Green could be a perfect replacement if the Wizards and Ariza can't come to agreement on a new contract. The Wizards don't have much to offer that the Celtics might want in a trade after trading their 2014 first rounder in the Marcin Gortat deal, but the Green is said to be "eminently available" so there may be something to this rumor eventually.
