Granger (knee) was officially waived by the Pistons on Monday, Dave Pemberton of the Oakland Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Granger was acquired from Phoenix as part of the Marcus Morris deal this summer, and the Pistons will now eat his $2.2 million guaranteed salary for this season. The 32-year-old Granger has been away from the team throughout camp while recovering from multiple knee surgeries, and this could be the unfortunate end of the line for the former All-Star, who appeared in only 30 games for Miami last season.

Granger will almost certainty be waived by the Pistons before the regular season begins on Tuesday, Keith Langlois of Pistons.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
According to head coach Stan Van Gundy, Granger will be waived for procedural reasons. Granger was acquired alongside Marcus Morris and Reggie Bullock by the Pistons via trade in July. He wasn't able to play at all this preseason as he has been rehabbing after undergoing a second knee surgery last summer. The former All-Star has evolved into an NBA journey-man late in his career, having stints with four teams in the past two seasons. Granger could never bounce back to full form after missing all but five games in the 2012-13 season due to patellar tendinosis. This could be the end of Granger's NBA road, unless he can get healthy and find his way onto a team looking to add veteran depth during the season.

Granger (knee) isn't ready to participate in basketball activities during the Pistons' training camp, MLive.com's David Mayo reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy said that Granger would continue to remain at his home in Phoenix, where he'll take part in rehab work on his own. Van Gundy didn't issue a timeline for the former All-Star's return to camp, but if Granger shows progress quickly in his rehab, he could join the Pistons at any point thereafter.

Granger was traded from the Suns to the Pistons on Thursday, Yahoo! Sports reports. Marcus Morris and Reggie Bullock were also sent to the Pistons, and the Suns received a second-round pick and cap space in return. Granger's salary is locked in for the 2015-16 season, and while the Pistons would love to have a healthy Granger from the last decade, they failed to acquire a time-traveling DeLorean in the deal, so the most likely outcome with Granger is that he'll twiddle his fingers on the Pistons' bench while perpetually rehabbing his knees until the Pistons decide to add him to another trade or outright waive him and eat the cap hit. Suffice to stay, it's a pipe dream to expect consistent fantasy value from Granger at this point in his career.

Granger exercised his player option for the 2015-16 season, the Suns Official Website reports. Granger will return to Phoenix despite failing to play in a single game following an All-Star break trade from the Miami Heat. Granger dealt with a knee injury throughout the end of the 2014-15 season and he'll remain an injury concern coming into next season after playing less than 45 games in three straight seasons. Don't expect him to have much of a fantasy impact moving forward, as he'll likely remain a reserve playing limited minutes for the Suns.

Granger was traded from Miami to Phoenix after the All-Star break, where he failed to play a single game for the Suns. In 30 regular season games with Miami he averaged 6.3 points (40% FG, 36% 3Pt, 76% FT), 1.0 three-pointer, 0.6 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 0.4 steals in 20 minutes per game in 2014-15. He has a player option with the Suns for 2015-16. Granger's season was a mess, as he dealt with various lingering injuries, and was inefficient in the few games he saw action. The small forward never even suited up for the Suns, as he sat out the rest of the year to tend to a lingering knee injury. At 32-years-old, he hasn't played more than 42 games in a season since 2011-12, as injuries have derailed his past three years in the NBA. Entering his 11th season, Granger hopes to turn his career around and return to top form, but his health issues have been surmounting for some time now. He has a player option as well, so his situation could change for the 2015-16 season, but at this point he is an afterthought for fantasy use.

Granger (knee) is still without an update on his status, and should be considered doubtful for upcoming games until further notice. Granger has struggled to stay healthy for the past several seasons, and continues to deal with various ailments, most particularly on his knee. Previous reports said that there could be a chance he returns this season, but that news isn't too useful from a fantasy perspective. He's averaging 6.3 points and 2.7 rebounds in 30 games this year, and he's not worth owning in a wide variety of leagues.

Granger (knee) could play at some point this season, but first he'll focus on getting fully healthy, the Arizona Republic reports. Granger came to Phoenix from Miami at the deadline and originally considered seeking a buyout to sign on with a contender. After meeting with the Suns' heralded athletic staff, however, he decided he'll instead focus on returning to full health after undergoing a second knee surgery last summer. "I haven't returned to the level I was before but I don't think that's impossible to get back there," Granger said. "I'm only 31. There were times, even stretches when I was playing for Miami, I felt great, bouncy, my shot was going. And then the knee is always kind of just nagging at you. I'm thankful that I kept playing and I think I can play a lot longer." Whether Granger returns this season remains to be seen, and coach Jeff Hornacek indicated it could depend upon the team's playoff chase situation. "As we go on, if we're still in the race, yeah, why not get a veteran guy like that in there?" Hornacek said. "If somehow we're out of it, then maybe it makes more sense to play the young guys. Our thoughts right now are we're still in the playoff hunt and we're still going to go after it. If he can give us something toward the end there, maybe that happens."

Granger remains on the Suns' roster but he's not currently with the team, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. After being traded from Miami at the deadline, most expected Granger to be bought out. However, the buyout deadline has now passed, so it's unclear what the future holds for the veteran. The Suns have made it clear that they would prefer to play younger players, so Granger doesn't appear to have much value in any formats at this point.

Granger, who was traded from the Heat to the Suns on Thursday, is not expected to play in Friday's game against the Timberwolves, Paul Coro of The Arizona Republic reports.Granger and the Suns may discuss a buyout, as the team appears to have plenty of better options on the wing.
