Danny Granger F PHO 3 Hrs

Granger (knee) is still without an update on his status, and should be considered doubtful for upcoming games until further notice.

Granger has struggled to stay healthy for the past several seasons, and continues to deal with various ailments, most particularly on his knee. Previous reports said that there could be a chance he returns this season, but that news isn't too useful from a fantasy perspective. He's averaging 6.3 points and 2.7 rebounds in 30 games this year, and he's not worth owning in a wide variety of leagues.

Granger (knee) could play at some point this season, but first he'll focus on getting fully healthy, the Arizona Republic reports.

Granger came to Phoenix from Miami at the deadline and originally considered seeking a buyout to sign on with a contender. After meeting with the Suns' heralded athletic staff, however, he decided he'll instead focus on returning to full health after undergoing a second knee surgery last summer. "I haven't returned to the level I was before but I don't think that's impossible to get back there," Granger said. "I'm only 31. There were times, even stretches when I was playing for Miami, I felt great, bouncy, my shot was going. And then the knee is always kind of just nagging at you. I'm thankful that I kept playing and I think I can play a lot longer." Whether Granger returns this season remains to be seen, and coach Jeff Hornacek indicated it could depend upon the team's playoff chase situation. "As we go on, if we're still in the race, yeah, why not get a veteran guy like that in there?" Hornacek said. "If somehow we're out of it, then maybe it makes more sense to play the young guys. Our thoughts right now are we're still in the playoff hunt and we're still going to go after it. If he can give us something toward the end there, maybe that happens."

Granger remains on the Suns' roster but he's not currently with the team, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

After being traded from Miami at the deadline, most expected Granger to be bought out. However, the buyout deadline has now passed, so it's unclear what the future holds for the veteran. The Suns have made it clear that they would prefer to play younger players, so Granger doesn't appear to have much value in any formats at this point.

Granger was dealt to the Suns on Thursday, the Arizona Republic reports.Granger has been in and out of the rotation for Miami this season, and it's unclear what his future holds with the Suns. He could assume a veteran's role off the bench, though some reports have suggested he could be waived in short order.

Granger played a season-high 36 minutes against the Bucks on Tuesday en route to 14 points (5-9 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six rebounds, two assists, and one steal as a starter.

This game might be the tipping point for Granger in this point of the season, especially since Dwyane Wade is expected to miss the next 2-3 weeks with a hamstring injury. Friday's game against the Mavericks will be crucial for determining his value moving forward, but if he plays around 36 minutes once again, the veteran should probably be plucked from the waiver wire as a flier in standard leagues.

Granger will likely get the start at small forward Tuesday, the Sun-Sentinel's Ira Winderman reports.

Luol Deng is out with an injury, so Granger will get the start, but he should still be viewed as a low-end option in daily leagues, as there's very limited upside here, even if he approaches 30 minutes of playing time.

Granger returned to the bench Friday, scoring six points (3-3 FG) and adding two rebounds, two assists, and a steal in 13 minutes against the Pacers.

Even on an increased workload, Granger was only useful in very deep formats. He last scored double-digit points was in 2014. It's only been a couple years since Granger was discussed as a possible first round pick in some fantasy drafts, but he no longer maintains any of that value.

Granger started at small forward against the Hornets on Wednesday in place of Luol Deng (illness). The short-term starter played for 20 minutes and contributed just three points, one rebound, one steal, and one block.

Granger is a limited option even when he's inserted into the starting lineup. It's certainly possible that he'll continue to start for as long as Deng is sidelined, although that doesn't mean that he's worth the play in most leagues.

Luol Deng is out with an injury, which will allow for Granger to be more involved than he typically is. He could be a good source of three-point shooting, but his production in the other categories will be limited.
