Danny Granger (knee surgery) said he'll "hopefully" be ready for training camp.

Granger's knee injury was not cut-and-dry. He didn't realize there was a problem until training camp, tried to come back unsuccessfully and ended up playing in just five games. Now that he's had surgery, the situation is even more hairy. Once a fantasy darling thanks to his versatile skill set, Granger will come with a ton of red flags in 2013-14 fantasy drafts. He turned 30 years old on Saturday.

Danny Granger underwent surgery on his left knee Thursday.

The surgery was performed by Dr. James Andrews, who needs no introduction. The Pacers expect Granger to be ready for training camp, but his recovery this season showed that recoveries don't always go as expected. We should know more on how his rehab is progressing in the next few months.

Danny Granger will have surgery on his left knee and will miss the rest of the season.

Granger has been dealing with soreness in the knee all season. He underwent a procedure he had in October for patellar tendinosis and returned to the Pacers' lineup on Feb. 25. Granger played five games before being shut down due to soreness. He was scheduled to return to the lineup Thursday, but after rest and rehab didn't help, the Pacers and Granger opted for surgery following a consultation with legendary orthopedist Dr. James Andrews. We'd already figured he'd be of no use to fantasy owners this season, but the Pacers really could've used him in the playoffs. Granger is expected to be ready for training camp, according to the Pacers.

Danny Granger (knee) is expected to play on Thursday for the first time since March 6.

Granger returned earlier this season for five games and really struggled to the tune of 28.6 percent shooting, so fantasy owners shouldn't be expecting a ton right off the bat. Although Granger has reportedly looked good in practice, the Pacers are "at the point" where Granger will either help the team or he'll be shut down. If he continues to experience knee soreness after playing in games, the Pacers will have to reevaluate him and make a determination, but if he proves healthy, Granger would be a huge addition for Indiana before the playoffs.

There is an "outside chance" Danny Granger (knee) could return on Wednesday.

It sounds like we'll know more about Granger after Tuesday's practice, but he clearly hasn't had any setbacks since resuming basketball activities and is making progress from his patellar tendinitis. If he does wind up playing on Wednesday, he's expected to be extremely limited and is likely to be eased in off the bench again.
