Gibson scored 15 points (5-8 FG, 5-6 FT) to go along with four rebounds and one steal in 26 minutes Monday against the Nuggets.

Gibson will see plenty of minutes as a backup at both power forward and center this season. He is an excellent defensive player who was really improved offensively, making him a solid fantasy option who can be had in the later rounds of many drafts.

Gibson will come off the bench, but will still be a focal part of the Bulls' offense and is likely to see most of the fourth quarter minutes at the four again this season, the Chicago Tribune's K.C. Johnson reports. "Taj was probably our best fourth-quarter player last year," coach Tom Thibodeau said. "We're going to finish with the guys who give us the best chance to win. ... We have three guys that I know we can finish with. I'm going to ask them all to sacrifice."

It's also worth noting that Thibodeau said he didn't plan on ever using the jumbo lineup of Gibson, Pau Gasol and Joakim Noah, but considering there will be 96 minutes per game to divvy up between those three (and possibly Nikola Mirotic), they should all have fantasy value. Last season Gibson saw a career-high 28.7 minutes per game, which led to him being a pretty solid option, especially in deeper leagues. He has never averaged fewer than 1.3 blocks per game, and he has always averaged between 5.3 and 7.5 rebounds per game, so the floor is relatively high. However, the fact that as a big man he has never shot 50 percent from the field and is a career 68.6 percent free-throw shooter, there is also limited upside here.

Taj Gibson said he was never told he'd start and would have no problem coming off the bench.

The Bulls have a good problem to have with too many big men, and all of them are capable of playing power forward. With Pau Gasol likely to start, Gibson projects as a second-unit guy and he probably won't be eating up the majority of the fourth-quarter minutes at power forward like last season. Things were really looking up for a Gibson breakout a few weeks ago, but that seems a bit more unlikely now.

Taj Gibson has been told he will start at power forward next season, according to the Chicago Sun Times.

He said he has been told to get his "body and mind right to be a starter." Gibson outplayed Carlos Boozer all season and played almost all of the minutes at power forward down the stretch, so this news is not surprising. The Bulls will undoubtedly be looking to unload Carlos Boozer, which means Gibson could look to build off a breakout 2013-14 campaign.

Taj Gibson finished second in the 2013-14 Sixth Man of the Year voting.

After completing a breakout season, Gibson was rewarded by finishing second to Jamal Crawford in the voting process. The 28-year-old took a big step in his development this season and finished with averages of 13.0 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.4 blocks a game. He only averaged 28.7 minutes per game this season, so there is even more room for his fantasy value to grow if the Bulls up his playing time in 2014-15.

Taj Gibson suffered no structural damage to the left ankle he rolled in Game 5 against the Wizards.

Coach Thibodeau said that Gibson's injury was just a sprain, although he appeared to be in serious pain when it took place. His role with the Bulls will likely increase next season, making him a very attractive fantasy option at the power forward spot.

Taj Gibson did not break his ankle during the Bulls' season-ending loss on Tuesday, but he'll be re-examined on Wednesday.

Gibson limped off the court and didn't return after rolling his ankle in the fourth quarter, and he said afterward that it was "real painful." He averaged 18.2 points and 6.2 rebounds in the postseason, confirming his place as a strong Sixth Man of the Year candidate, and he should be an even bigger part of Chicago's plans with Carlos Boozer likely outbound this summer.

Taj Gibson twisted his left ankle during the fourth quarter of Tuesday's Game 5 and his return is questionable.

Bulls' coach Tom Thibodeau is pleased with Taj Gibson's growth this season.

In speaking of Gibson's playoff averages of 19.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.25 blocks, Thibodeau said, "It's a reflection of his whole season. He continues to grow." The Bulls have more pressing things to worry about (like being down 3-1 to the Wizards), but Gibson's progress may force the Bulls hand in using their amnesty clause on Carlos Boozer this summer. Gibson has played better than Boozer all season and could blossom into a very valuable fantasy asset if he carries his growth curve into the 2014-15 season.

Taj Gibson made 13-of-16 from the field for a career-high 32 points with seven boards, one assist, one steal and one block in 32 minutes during a loss to the Wizards on Sunday.

Nobody else on his team scored more than half his point total and Gibson just cleaned up in the paint today. He's outplayed Carlos Boozer all season and there's really no way coach Tom Thibodeau is going to tweak his rotation despite Boozer's reported displeasure. Gibson's offensive game has really blossomed this year primarily due to him improving his jump-shooting percentage from 26.0 last year to 34.7 percent this year. He's a beast.
