Pau Gasol PF/C CHI 8 Hrs

Gasol will start for the Bulls this season, and should see plenty of minutes despite the presence of Taj Gibson off the bench, the Chicago Tribune's K.C. Johnson reports. "Pau is a worker," coach Tom Thibodeau said. "We were talking about his experience with the Lakers and with Phil (Jackson), they didn't have very many days off. He played a lot of minutes, and that's what he is used to. He's used to 37 minutes a game."

It's also worth noting that Thibodeau said he didn't plan on ever using the jumbo lineup of Gasol, Gibson and Joakim Noah, but considering there will be 96 minutes per game to divvy up between those three (and possibly Nikola Mirotic), they should all have fantasy value. Thibodeau said his top three big men would all need to make sacrifices, but in reading the tea leaves, it seems Gasol's only sacrifice may be sitting at the end of games, as Thibodeau called Gibson the team's best fourth quarter player last season. Even if he doesn't play much in the fourth quarter, he should still approach 30-plus minutes per game, making him a worthwhile investment in fantasy leagues this season.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the Bulls have not guaranteed Pau Gasol that he'll be a starter this season.

Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson were Tom Thibodeau's preferred frontcourt pair in fourth quarters last season, and it's conceivable that Gasol will anchor the Bulls' bench as a sixth man. This report came in the context of Chicago's ongoing pursuit of Kevin Love, so fantasy owners shouldn't overreact -- we'll keep a close eye on the Bulls' rotations throughout training camp and the preseason.

Pau Gasol said he turned down more lucrative offers before joining the Bulls.

"Money obviously wasn't the priority," Gasol said. "I turned down bigger offers and I prioritized being on a championship caliber team." He added that he wants to help Nikola Mirotic develop, which sounds great for the Bulls because of the similarities between the two players. The Bulls have a loaded frontline and will look to compete for the top seed in the Eastern Conference. Gasol's fantasy value takes a bit of a hit, but he's still a guy to target in the early middle rounds.

The Chicago Bulls will introduce free agents Pau Gasol and Nikola Mirotic on Friday.

Gasol and Mirotic will be introduced at a press conference that starts at 11:30 CST on Friday. Gasol should retain fantasy value as he will likely start alongside Joakim Noah (and keep Taj Gibson in his sixth-man role), while Mirotic faces an NBA learning curve and crunch for playing time that should keep him off standard league fantasy radars.

Pau Gasol's contract with the Bulls is worth approximately $22 million over three years.

There's no word yet on whether the deal includes team or player options, but either way this is a solid value for Chicago. Gasol should start alongside Joakim Noah with Taj Gibson playing his typical sixth-man role, and it will be interesting to see whether coach Tom Thibodeau sticks with Gasol to close games or subs him out for his usual end-game frontcourt of Noah and Gibson.

Pau Gasol is finalizing a contract with the Bulls, according to ESPN.com.

It is not a sign and trade, so he likely took some sort of pay cut. The terms of the deal should be coming momentarily, which should be in the neighborhood of $10 million. For the Bulls, this deal basically means they're done with much of their cap space taken up. Still, it is a nice signing to help the Bulls on offense. Pau's fantasy value does take a hit, though.

The Lakers, Bulls and Rockets are working on a sign-and-trade deal involving Pau Gasol.

The Bulls are basically on the goal line to get Gasol, so it's more of just a matter of how they'll bring him on board. Gasol seems to be willing to take a major pay cut from his $14 million last year and would be a nice fit next to Joakim Noah. Stay tuned.

Pau Gasol has "virtually closed" a deal with the Bulls and he plans to complete a physical before returning to Spain in the coming days, according to Marca.com.

The deal is believed to be a sign-and-trade with the Lakers, though specifics have not yet emerged. The Lakers reportedly want Gasol to play in the Eastern Conference if he's not in L.A., which also works in Chicago's favor, and it seems like a matter of time before he's wearing a Bulls uniform.

The Bulls and free agent Pau Gasol are working to complete an agreement according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.

This means that Carmelo Anthony is probably staying in New York, but keeping it on Gasol the signing makes the Bulls a legitimate threat in the East. He will fit in nicely with a frontcourt starring Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson, and assuming everybody stays healthy he can coast through a reduced workload on his way to a productive year.

Unrestricted free agent Pau Gasol has reportedly turned down a two-year offer worth over $10 million with the Lakers.

Pau has likely spent his last days in a Lakers uniform, and that would narrow down the choices to the Knicks, Spurs, Bulls, and Thunder. It's not really clear which team Pau favors, but he said on his Twitter account that he is nearing a decision. Stay tuned.
