The Grizzlies weren't themselves today and they had just five second-chance points and only 32 points in the paint. They did win the rebounding battle, but they didn't control the tempo to their usually slower speed. Gasol and the Grizzlies will look to even the series on Tuesday.

Marc Gasol scored 23 points with 11 boards and six blocks during Monday's 103-97 overtime win over the Thunder in 48 minutes.

The Grizzlies took a commanding lead thanks to their 44 points in the paint and 25-of-29 shooting from the charity stripe. Gasol hit several clutch mid-range jumpers in this game and he's making a case as the best big man left in the playoffs. Zach Randolph wasn't too shabby either, scoring 23 points with 12 boards and three assists in 40 minutes.

Marc Gasol led Memphis with 20 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two blocks in Saturday's 87-81 win vs. the visiting Thunder.

The victory gives Memphis a 2-1 lead in the series, though they were out-rebounded and nearly coughed up a late lead despite holding OKC to just 36.4 percent shooting. Gasol's 18.5 per game in the playoffs rank him second among centers, trailing only Brook Lopez (22.3), with Roy Hibbert (13.5) as the nearest competition among centers still in the playoffs.

He shot the ball well from the field, making 8-of-14 from the field, but made just 4-of-7 from the line. The missed free throws were the story for Memphis with just 14-of-24 makes (58.3 percent) in this game. Quincy Pondexter (13 points, five boards, three assists and three 3-pointers) was fouled on a 3-point attempt with the Grizzlies down three, but he missed his first attempt. Memphis will look to rebound in Game 2 on Tuesday.

Marc Gasol shot 9-of-14 from the field for 24 points with 13 boards, four assists and three blocks in 42 minutes against the Clippers during a series-tying 104-83 win.

Zach Randolph matched Gasol with 24 points of his own to go with nine boards and two assists on 11-of-17 shooting. The Grizzlies frontcourt shot 62.7 percent from the field in the win and Memphis shot 50.6 percent as a team. Once again the dominated the offensive glass and won the rebound battle 43-28 on Saturday. Memphis put the clamps on LAC's offense yet again and they've averaged just 82.5 points per game in the last two games. Memphis will take their momentum back to LA for a pivotal Game 5 on Tuesday.

Marc Gasol has won the 2012/13 Defensive Player of the Year Award.

It was previously reported that Gasol would win the award, and now we have official confirmation. Gasol wins the award this year and should be in the conversation regularly in the future as well. LeBron James finished in second place, Serge Ibaka in third and Joakim Noah in fourth.

Marc Gasol will be named Defensive Player of the Year, according to multiple reports.

It's well-deserved for Gasol and a win for those who are a fan of analytics. Gasol's defensive statistics aren't eye-popping by any means, but his presence in the paint and the way he's able to defend can't be understated. He is the Grizzlies' most important player and it's nice to see the big man get recognition in the form of the award.
