Marc Gasol C MEM 25 Days

Gasol will look to be more aggressive this year, the Grizzly Bear Blues reports.

During media day Gasol made it clear that he plans to be more aggressive offensively this year. Given that the Grizzlies figure to shoot more three-pointers this year, Gasol should see more single coverage than he has in recent years, and it doesn't appear he'll be shy to go work on offense if that is indeed the case. He has always been lauded for his unselfish nature, but if he starts putting up a few more points per game without dropping off in the other categories he'd certainly be in for the best season of his career. He was also very reassuring about the fact that he loves Memphis and is not worried about his contract situation. Continue to target Gasol in the first few rounds on draft-day, as he provides consistently solid production in every major category except three-pointers.

Marc Gasol said he wants to stay in Memphis after his contract runs out in the summer of 2015.

"I've always said Memphis is my home away from home," Gasol said. "Robert [Pera] knows that. I know that. My teammates know that and that's all that matters. I live day to day but I don't see myself anywhere else." After missing just four games in the previous three seasons combined, Gasol missed 23 in 2013-14. He should have a bounce back year in his age-29 season as one of the best fantasy centers in the league.

Marc Gasol has begun working out without a brace on his right knee for the first time since spraining his MCL in November.

"I don't have to wear a brace anymore," Gasol said. "It's like the knee injury never happened. It's really strong and stable." This is terrific news for the Grizzlies and for the Spanish national team, for whom Gasol will play when Spain hosts this summer's FIBA World Cup. Any lingering questions about his health should be answered by the time the Grizzlies begin training camp in September.

Marc Gasol scored 24 points in Game 7's 120-109 loss to the Thunder with two boards, six assists, four steals and one block.

The Grizzlies scoring 109 points tonight was unexpected, and it was a surprise to see them even hang around with the way OKC was knocking down shots. Gasol's 16.6 shots per game in the postseason were well above his regular-season average of 12.1 per game, which led to an average line of 17.3 points, 7.7 boards, 4.4 assists and 1.7 steals in the seven games. After an underwhelming start to his season due primarily to his MCL sprain, Gasol finished the year strong. He'll be an elite option next season at the center spot in fantasy leagues.

He and Zach Randolph scored 33 of the starting unit's 42 points tonight, which was a big reason why they were destroyed on their own home floor. The Grizzlies tried to slow things down again, but it didn't work and they'll have to head to Oklahoma City for Game 7 on Saturday.

He left the arena in a walking boot on Friday and it would appear that was more of a precautionary measure more than anything else. If Gasol can't play, the Grizzlies figure to give more run to Kosta Koufos. We'll pass along any info on his status as the info becomes available.
