Channing Frye has been cleared to start shooting after undergoing shoulder surgery in early May.

With the arrival of Luis Scola from Houston, Frye has likely lost his starting job for the Suns. He had a disappointing season last year, but even if he's coming off the bench, should still be a decent source of 3-pointers with a few blocks and rebounds thrown in. But given how deep the Suns appear to be at power forward this year, Frye should only be given a look late in deeper fantasy leagues, assuming he's healthy enough to start the season.

Channing Frye (shoulder surgery) may not be ready to start next season on time.

Frye faces a six-to-eight month rehab process following May 2 surgery. Frye would just barely be at the sixth month mark by the beginning of November, so we have very real questions about whether or not Frye will be ready to play. "I had really jacked it up," he said. "They basically said it looked like a bomb exploded inside my shoulder." Hakim Warrick and Markieff Morris would pick up minutes if Frye isn't ready at the beginning of the season.

Channing Frye underwent successful right shoulder surgery on Wednesday.

He should be ready to go by the start of next season, and will look to bounce back from a year highlighted by inconsistency.

Channing Frye (shoulder) will not play in Wednesday's season finale against the Spurs.

Frye wouldn't have played even if the Suns still had a shot at the playoffs, so Markieff Morris and Hakim Warrick will handle the power forward minutes again in the finale.

Channing Frye will miss Tuesday's crucial game against the Jazz with a shoulder injury, but Grant Hill will play.

Hill's always iffy with his sore knee, but will give it a go tonight. Either Hakim Warrick or Markieff Morris will start in Frye's place, but Morris is the stronger bet for a good fantasy line.

Channing Frye (shoulder) has a "very slim" chance to play in Tuesday's showdown with the Jazz.

Frye is with the team in Utah, but it sounds like his shoulder is still in bad shape. Even if he makes a surprise appearance, in-game injury and/or ineffectiveness appears likely. Markieff Morris has been prepped to start at power forward. The inconsistent yet versatile rookie has averaged 9.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, 0.7 blocks and 0.5 3-pointers as a bench player over his last 12 games.

Channing Frye will fly to Utah for Tuesday's game against the Jazz, but his status "is still very much in doubt" according to beat writer Paul Coro.

We don't want to speculate about whether or not Coro's comments were intended to mean that he's doubtful, questionable, or probable, because we think Coro just wanted to set the record that Frye isn't necessarily going to suit up because he made the trip. That said, with the playoffs on the line against the Jazz, we'd tend to think if he can get the ball to the rim that he'll see at least some action. He's still one of the Suns' only shot blockers and the Jazz will have to respect him until he proves he cannot stretch the defense.
