DeMar DeRozan SG/SF TOR 2 Days

The NBA has warned players not to participate in exhibitions in the Philippines this summer, which were expected to include DeMar DeRozan, Blake Griffin, James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, Damian Lillard and Kyle Lowry.

Some players are expected to earn at least $150,000 during the two-day event, and their agents feel the league is trying to control the financial market for overseas events. A league official denied that to Yahoo! Sports, saying, "Our biggest concerns aren't sponsorships and payouts, but the playing conditions around the games - quality of the floor, equipment around the court, presence of doctors and facilities for treatment, etc." The players may be subject to fines if they do participate in the events.

DeMar DeRozan was battling the flu during Sunday's Game 7 defeat in Toronto, during which he scored 18 points with six assists in 45 minutes.

DeRozan shot 38.1 percent from the field in the playoffs but also made 10.7 free throws per game, and stellar free throw shooting fueled his top-50 value in eight-cat fantasy leagues this season. Former Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo was widely scorned for signing DeRozan to a four-year, $38 million contract in 2012, but he now seems prescient.

Greivis Vasquez was also nice off the bench with 15 points, six rebounds and two assists. Game 6 is Friday in Brooklyn and the Raptors lead 3-2.

Raptors coach Dwane Casey acknowledged that his team needs to "do a better job" of quickly double-teaming Deron Williams and Joe Johnson in the post.

The Nets have taken a 2-1 series lead behind excellent play from their starting backcourt -- Johnson is averaging 23.7 points on 60.5 percent shooting, while Williams is contributing 20.3 points and 5.3 assists per game. DeMar DeRozan admitted that "It's tough once [Johnson] gets you down there [in the post] and get his hip on you," and it will be interesting to see how the Raptors respond in a critical Game 4 matchup on Sunday.
