Curry (rest) won't play in Sunday's preseason game against the Rockets, The San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The Warriors want to keep Curry fresh heading into the start of the regular season, so giving him rest Sunday isn't alarming. Curry's career continues to trend upward and he should be taken in the first round of virtually every league with standard scoring.

Curry scored a game-high 25 points (8-of-11 FG, 4-of-7 3Pt, 5-of-5 FT) with six rebounds, six assists, three steals and a blocked shot in Sunday night's preseason win over the Lakers.

After a relatively quiet opener to the preseason, Curry has poured in 45 points while hitting 7-of-11 from three-point range in two wins over the Lakers. In three preseason games, he's made 21 trips to the free-throw line. If Curry were to average seven free-throw attempts per game, he would be among the league leaders in that category.

Curry fouled out after only 18 minutes in Tuesday night's preseason opener against the Clippers. He scored 12 points on 2-of-7 shooting with three assists and three turnovers.

As we were told during training camp, Curry was going to get a chance to handle tougher defensive assignments and that happened Tuesday when he was charged with guarding the Clippers Chris Paul. That's an assignment that would have been Klay Thompson's responsibility last season.

Curry will be asked to take on more defensive responsibility this season, CSN Bay Area reports.

New head coach Steve Kerr feels Curry can do more on defense and that it's just never been asked of him. Generally, Curry got the least demanding assignment of the opposing team's smaller players while Klay Thompson defended the more difficult matchups. The downside to giving Curry harder assignments is that it may lead to foul trouble and having the team's best offensive player on the bench.

Stephen Curry has put the Mark Jackson firing behind him, and he is now excited to go out and compete for a championship next season.

"We're all excited about taking advantage of the window we have as a team," Curry said. "Coaches change, but when you have a unit and a core that's going to be sticking together, it's our job to take advantage of it regardless of the situation... We have our eyes set on a championship, and the lessons we learned this year we're going to put to the test next year." The Warriors will need a healthy Andrew Bogut if they want to truly compete, but if they are able to land Love this offseason, they would certainly join the conversation as a true championship contender.

Stephen Curry said on Thursday that "it's huge," the Warriors keep shooting guard Klay Thompson for the long-term future.

"I love playing with him," Curry said. "He makes me better, and I try to make him better. How much better he's gotten since Day 1 is kind of scary." Thompson will be a restricted free agent heading into the 2015 season and owner Joe Lacob has made clear the team intends on keeping him for the foreseeable future. Both Curry and Thompson had career years this past season and were top-10 fantasy options at their respective positions.

Stephen Curry said it's "good to know what the next direction is" for the Warriors on Thursday.

He did add the firing of Mark Jackson was "kind of stressful how it all went down." Coach Steve Kerr also called Curry before the news broke and the star point guard admitted he liked that. Curry was on Jackson's side before he was fired, but it sounds like Curry is going to embrace the change. Despite some schematic changes in Golden State, Curry is still arguably the most valuable guard in fantasy hoops.

The Warriors' first interview with head coach candidate Stan Van Gundy is "imminent," according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

The Knicks have emerged as the clear-cut favorite to hired Steve Kerr as their head coach, which eliminates one of Golden State's top options. The Warriors will reportedly interview Lionel Hollins in Chicago during the draft combine this week, and a handful of NCAA coaches and veteran NBA coaches remain as potential opposition to Van Gundy.

Stephen Curry scored a game-high 33 points vs. the Clippers during Game 7's 126-121 loss on Saturday, adding five boards, nine assists, three steals and three 3-pointers.

He made all 16 attempts from the line tonight and the Warriors offense certainly wasn't the reason why they lost. They shot 14-of-25 from deep as a team, but 18 turnovers and some porous defense sent them home for the summer. Curry suffered a minor hamstring tweak, but it obviously won't affect his status in the offseason. He'll be a top-five pick in fantasy drafts next year.

Stephen Curry made 9-of-24 from the field for 24 points during Game 6's 100-99 win over the Clippers on Thursday, adding four boards, nine assists and two 3-pointers in 45 minutes.

He only turned the ball over two times tonight, which has been a problem for Curry in these playoffs. The Warriors don't win ugly very often and were able to pull out a victory despite shooting just 39.3 percent from the field, including 7-of-24 from downtown. They will travel to Los Angeles and will be the NBA's third Game 7 of Saturday. We hope you get your weekend errands done early.
