Lopez and the Knicks agreed to terms Friday on a four-year, $54 million contract, Ian Begley of ESPN New York reports.

While the Knicks had their sights set higher this summer, Lopez is a nice addition for a team desperately in need of rim protection. While Lopez is limited as an offensive player, he's serviceable in the pick and roll and finishes well at the rim. Lopez will step in as the starting center and should see big minutes with Jason Smith as his only current backup.

Lopez, who enters the offseason as an unrestricted free agent, averaged 9.6 points (on 54 percent shooting), 6.7 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, and 0.9 assists in 28 minutes during the 2014-15 campaign.

During Lopez's two seasons in Portland, he's shored up what was previously an untrustworthy spot in the starting lineup, thereby allowing LaMarcus Aldridge to avoid logging time at the five. In the process, Lopez has performed all the little tasks, whether it was setting screens for Damian Lillard, clearing out for rebounds, providing a reliable free-throw shooter, or terrorizing opposing mascots. Lopez's injury-laden history reemerged, though, when he broke two bones in his right hand on Dec. 15. Out of the lineup for a month and a half, the center spot was held down effectively by Joel Freeland, but a shoulder injury sustained on Jan. 3 slowly eroded performance from the position. Lopez eventually achieved full health on Feb. 3, playing out the remainder of the season, but his playoff performance left the Blazers' faithful wanting more for the second year in a row, while Meyers Leonard emerged as an offensive force. The organization must make a call on resigning the 27-year-old, but if he lands elsewhere in free agency, a starting gig is almost a certainty for Lopez.

Lopez was contained to six points (2-4 FG, 2-2 FT) and three rebounds in 21 minutes during Monday's victory versus the Grizzlies.

Outside of LaMarcus Aldridge, Lopez has been a constant presence in the Blazers' frontcourt in the first round, racking up between 19 and 31 minutes per game. However, Lopez has yet to make his mark on the series, averaging 5.5 points (on 57 percent shooting), 4.5 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in 25 minutes. On Monday, he was usurped in favor of Meyers Leonard for key stretches of the game, including the final 8:48 of the contest, when Portland outscored Memphis, 29-12. While Lopez's starting spot isn't in danger, he could continue to yield minutes to Leonard.

Lopez posted 10 points (5-6 FG), six rebounds, two blocks, one assist, and one steal in 31 minutes during Wednesday's loss at Memphis.

Lopez was far more involved in Game 2 of this first-round series, setting effective screens and playing active defense. Easily outpacing the two points and five boards from Sunday's postseason opener, he more or less matched his average output from the regular season, albeit with an elevated shooting percentage. On the other hand, he didn't take on additional work with Chris Kaman (ankle) absent, which instead fell on the shoulders of LaMarcus Aldridge. Including the pair of playoff tilts, Lopez is averaging 6.4 points (on 44 percent shooting), 6.4 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.0 block in 28 minutes in five showdowns with the Grizzlies.

Lopez contributed 18 points (7-8 FG, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, and two assists in 25 minutes during Wednesday's blowout win against the Timberwolves.

Lopez feasted on a withered frontcourt composed of Justin Hamilton and Adreian Payne, as injuries have once again beset the Timberwolves. While his output in five games this month doesn't jump off the page -- 10.2 points (on 54 percent shooting), 7.4 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in 27 minutes per outing -- Lopez remains a fair source of production on the glass and defensive counting stats.

Robin Lopez posted a double-double in Wednesday's win over the Rockets, finishing with 16 points (7-10 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-3 FT), 10 rebounds and a blocked shot in 30 minutes.

This is about as good as it gets for Lopez's fantasy value. He has stayed pretty consistent with his rebounding numbers, but his scoring numbers have been on the rise of late, considering he's averaging 12.4 points over his last five games, while averaging 9.9 points on the season. He's also had at least one block over each of those five games, while twice recording three blocks. While it's tough to see him getting extensive scoring opportunities playing next to the likes of LaMarcus Aldridge, Damian Lillard and Arron Afflalo, he still offers a decent source of rebounds and blocks.

Lopez notched 11 points (4-6 FG, 3-4 FT), seven rebounds, one assist, and one block in 31 minutes during Wednesday's victory at the Clippers.

Lopez has only pulled down double-digit boards once in 11 contests since returning to action on Feb. 3 from two broken bones in his right hand. However, he thrived on the offensive glass Wednesday, grabbing six on the night. During the aforementioned 11-game span, he's averaged 10.1 points (on 55 percent shooting), 6.7 boards, 1.5 swats, and 0.7 assists in 30 minutes.

Lopez approached a double-double Wednesday against the Lakers, tallying 10 points (3-8 FG, 4-5 FT), nine rebounds, three blocks, and two assists in 27 minutes.Since returning from a month and a half on the sideline due to two broken bones in his right hand, Lopez has helped the Blazers roll into the All-Star break, holding three of five opponents below 100 points en route to a 4-1 record. During that stretch, he averaged 11.4 points (on 57 percent shooting), 7.6 boards, and two blocks in 30 minutes. Expect much of the same once the season resumes on Friday, Feb. 20 at Utah.

Lopez (hand) returned to action Tuesday, recording 11 points and six rebounds in 25 minutes.

Lopez briefly exited the game with a facial laceration, but was able to return. He looked comfortable from the floor, making five of his nine shots. Look for his role to expand as he rounds into form.

Lopez (hand) suffered a facial laceration in the third quarter of Tuesday's game, but will return.

He had 10 points, four boards and two blocks in 19 minutes prior to suffering the cut on his face that was bleeding to the point that he needed to get it tended to on the sideline. This was his first game back from a hand injury, but he seemed to be doing well before exiting. This should not affect his status moving forward, but it's worth checking on prior to his next game.
