Millsap signed a three-year, $58 million contract with the Hawks on Wednesday, NBA.com reports.

The deal is accompanied by a player option for the third year, meaning Millsap will have the option to enter free agency after his age-32 season. Economics aside, he'll remain at the core of a Hawks frontcourt next to Al Horford after putting up the most stat-laden line of his nine-year career under the direction of coach Mike Budenholzer.

Millsap (shoulder) said Thursday that his sprained right shoulder will not require offseason surgery, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The injury first surfaced near the end of the regular season, when Millsap missed five games prior to the start of the playoffs. While he wasn't visibly hampered during the postseason, Millsap's numbers took a dip, as he shot just 40.7 percent from the field in 16 contests. The free-agent-to-be will likely take several weeks off to recover before returning to basketball activities.

Millsap may undergo surgery on his sprained right shoulder in the offseason, Howard Beck of the Bleacher Report reports.

Millsap suffered from the shoulder injury in April and missed fives games before being deemed healthy enough to play in the playoffs. Millsap's playoff numbers have dipped a bit, as he is shooting 41 percent from the field in the postseason compared 48 percent in the regular season and his shoulder may be the reason why. However, given that he played 46 minutes in his last outing, the All-Star is still expected to close out the playoffs, which could end for he and the Hawks as early as Tuesday night with the team down 3-0 to the Cavaliers.

Millsap bounced back from a miserable Game 2 performance in which he only had a playoff-low four points. The Hawks weren't able to overcome the loss of Al Horford, who was ejected in the third quarter, but Millsap looked like he took a larger part of the offense after his fellow forward was lost.

Millsap (illness) played just 23 minutes off the bench Saturday in the Hawks' Game 3 loss to the Wizards, scoring eight points (2-6 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-5 FT) with two rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block.

Millsap not only played off the bench, but sat down the stretch as the Hawks mounted an unsuccessful, but improbable nonetheless, comeback. He'll likely return to his customary role in the starting lineup for Game 4, and should be able to be counted on in postseason fantasy formats.
