Splitter hasn't ruled out the possibility of undergoing surgery to address his sore right hip, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
After the Hawks opted to shut him down in order to rest through the All-Star break, Splitter sought a second opinion on his ailing hip earlier this week. The center is still in the information-gathering process to determine whether surgery or extended rest is the best method to rectify the issue, but the former option could possibly result in a premature end to the 31-year-old's season. Regardless of what route Splitter chooses, it seems quite likely that he won't be ready to play immediately after the break. Mike Muscala will continue to serve as the Hawks' primary backup center while Splitter is sidelined.
