Leonard netted 35 points (10-21 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 15-15 FT), five rebounds, three assists, and five steals over 32 minutes in Tuesday's win against the Warriors.
EDGE Analysis
Leonard made a statement against the best regular season team in history, leading all scorers and converting on all 15 of his free throw attempts. Last season's Defensive Player of the Year also recorded five steals, although he did miss all three of his attempts from downtown. The 25-year-old All-Star is expected to take the reigns of this transitioning Spurs team, and so far, he hasn't missed a beat. Scoring a career-high on opening night certainly bodes well for his prospects this year a potential MVP candidate.
