Kidd-Gilchrist will need surgery to repair his dislocated right shoulder and be out for six months, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo reports.
EDGE Analysis
While original reports were that Kidd-Gilchrist was going to miss several weeks, the need for surgery has extended that time to half a year. With that timeframe, Kidd-Gilchrist likely won't be set to return till April, giving him essentially no value through the regular season. Without him, it's possible the Hornets move the newly acquired Nicolas Batum to small forward, which would give the likes of Jeremy Lamb and P.J. Hairston potential value in an open race to be the team's starting shooting guard.
