Augustin, who was brought over in a trade deadline deal from Detroit, now has to battle Cameron Payne as the Thunder's second-string point guard this season.

Augustin proved that he could put up fantasy relevant numbers when playing as a stater in Detroit, but the selection of Payne, plus the presence of Westbrook, means that his time as a fantasy relevant player, outside of the deepest leagues, is likely done.

Augustin was traded from the Pistons to the Thunder at the February trade deadline. In 28 appearances (one start) for Oklahoma City, Augustin averaged 7.3 points, 3.1 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.2 three-pointers in 24.2 minutes per game.

Augustin averaged 10.6 points and 4.9 assists in 54 games for the Pistons prior to being traded in February. However, at that time, Augustin was enjoying a brilliant stretch as Detroit's starting point guard, in the absence of former teammate Brandon Jennings (Achilles). In 10 starts following Jennings' season-ending injury, Augustin posted 20.3 points and 8.2 assists per night. However, once arriving in Oklahoma City to play behind perennial All Star point guard Russell Westbrook, Augustin's production dropped off more than expected, as he barely shot 37 percent from the field. That dip evidenced Augustin's post-trade struggles, but since he's still under contract with the Thunder for next season, Augustin should be better acclimated as Oklahoma City's second-string point guard in 2015-16.

Augustin had 17 points (6-13 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), four rebounds, two assists and two steals in 37 minutes.

Nice game for Augustin to follow up his spot start for Russell Westbrook on Sunday. Westbrook sat out against the Lakers with a face injury that required surgery, and Augustin performed well with 18 points, nine rebounds, five assists and one steal in 41 minutes in the Thunder's 108-101 victory in Los Angeles. It was good to see him garner so many minutes, even in an overtime game. He hadn't played that much since late January when he took over at point guard for the Detroit Pistons in the wake of the Brandon Jennings injury.

Augustin started for the injured Russell Westbrook (face) Sunday and posted 18 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and one steal in 41 minutes of action.

It's no surprise that Augustin had a strong outing, and he'll continue to be a useful asset in most leagues while Westbrook remains out. He should be snatched up from the wires in the meantime.

Augustin scored a solid 12 points (3-9 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 4-5 FT) with three rebounds and two assists in 23 minutes in his first game for the Thunder on Saturday, following Thursday's trade.Augustin played some next to Russell Westbrook, so his fantasy value isn't completely dead, but the numbers he was putting up in Detroit aren't realistic now. He can be dropped in most standard leagues, but if he keeps playing minutes in the mid-20s, he'll be just on the borderline of usefulness for the remainder of the season.
