Lopez has agreed to a three-year contract with the Nets worth $60 million, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Lopez should slot back into the starting center role yet again after spending the previous three seasons in Brooklyn. He'll be making approximately $3 million more per year under this new agreement, although he's dealt with injury concerns throughout his career which makes him a risky option to obtain. With that being said, he's a valuable asset when healthy and should find a comfortable roster spot across all standard leagues ahead of this upcoming season.

Lopez has opted out of his contract with the Nets, making him an unrestricted free agent, the New York Daily News reports.

Lopez forgoes $17 million in salary for next season by opting out of his contract, but can now secure a long-term deal after undergoing three surgeries on his foot over recent seasons. While the Nets are expected to make a strong push to retain the 27-year-old, his career averages of 17.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.7 blocks should make Lopez a hot commodity for teams in need of an upgrade at center this offseason.

Lopez appeared in 72 games for the Nets in 2014-15, averaging 17.2 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 29.2 minutes per game.

Lopez had an up-and-down year, battling through a couple minor injuries while finding himself in and out of the starting lineup. During the first half of the season, his minutes were limited by new head coach Lionel Hollins, as Lopez played just 23.6 minutes per game in December and 27.1 in January. His production over that span 14.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, 24.4 minutes per game reflected the playing time reduction, but he would rebound over the final two months of the season. After Kevin Garnett was shipped to Minnesota, Lopez saw his role expand, and he averaged 20.9 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.1 blocks while playing more than 32 minutes per game in March for one of the best statistical months of his career. The success continued into April, when his numbers were nearly identical to those of the previous month. Despite the Nets losing in six games to Atlanta, Lopez was strong in the playoffs, posting 19.8 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.2 blocks while shooting 49.4 percent from the floor. Brooklyn, as a franchise, finds itself at a crossroads this offseason. An aging, overpriced roster could be in for an overhaul, and it remains to be seen whether Lopez is in the team's long-term plans. The Nets were close to dealing Lopez around the trade deadline, but he's probably their most valuable asset and certainly looked the part of a franchise player in the season's second half. Lopez has the option to opt out of the final year of his contract this summer, and the expectation is that he will do so, though he said in early May that he hasn't made up his mind. If Lopez opts out, the Nets will likely make a play to sign him to a new, long-term deal, but whether that gets done will ultimately depend upon how much money Brooklyn is willing to spend.

Lopez posted 19 points and seven rebounds in 35 minutes of action in Game 6 against the Hawks.

Lopez has been solid all series long, averaging 19.8 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks. Unfortunately, the Nets will have to head into the offseason empty-handed. Lopez finished the regular season playing 72 games, a far improvement compared to 17 games last season.

Lopez scored 22 points (7-18 FG, 8-12 FT) to go with 13 rebounds and two blocks in 42 minutes Saturday in the Nets' Game 3 win over the Hawks.

Coach Lionel Hollins shortened his rotation once again, primarily using just seven players Saturday. For daily games purposes, the shortening of the Nets rotation should mean huge minutes for Lopez, Thaddeus Young, and Joe Johnson in their next game Monday.

Lopez scored 20 points (8-15 FG, 4-4 FT) with seven rebounds and three blocks in 39 minutes during Wednesday's Game 2 loss to the Hawks.

He's been the Nets' best player through the first two games of the series, but Lopez will need to get more consistent help from his teammates if the club is going to turn things around on Saturday in Game 3.

Lopez posted 26 points, nine rebounds, one steal, and one block in 32 minutes of action Friday against the Wizards.

Lopez is averaging 25.0 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks over the last five games. He's been doing so at a strong clip -- 55 percent from the field and 83 percent from the line. That being said, he's worth owning in all leagues.

Lopez scored 32 points (15-25 FG, 2-4 FT) to go along with nine rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 32 minutes Monday against Portland.

The Nets are making a playoff push and Lopez is right in the thick of the action as he has scored at least 20 points in nine of this last 11 games. He has also stepped up his rebounding as well as he has grabbed at least nine rebounds in six of his last eight games. Continue to ride the hot hand with Lopez down the stretch.

Lopez had 30 points (13-24 FG, 4-4 FT) and 17 rebounds in 44 minutes in the win over Toronto on Friday.

Lopez has scored 30 or more points five times with five double-doubles in his last nine games. The Nets have won six straight (only one of those six teams is currently in the playoffs) and Lopez is at the center of things. He could be a factor in the playoffs.
