Afflalo agreed to a two-year, $16 million deal with the Knicks on Thursday, ESPN New York reports.

The deal includes a player option for the second year, enabling Afflalo to get back on the market next summer when the cap is expected to take a significant leap. The veteran spent last season with the Nuggets and Blazers, averaging13.3 points per game. He figures to slide easily into the starting shooting guard spot for New York.

Afflalo opted out of the final year of his contract Tuesday, Jabari Young of Comcast SportsNet reports.

Afflalo had until Monday night to make a decision and, as expected, he'll decline his $7.4 million option for next season, making him a free agent. The 29-year-old will be on Portland's radar, but the team has other issues to sort out, namely the futures of Wes Matthews and LaMarcus Aldridge, beforehand.

Afflalo is expected to opt out of the final year of his contract, ESPN reports.

Afflalo, who was traded to the Blazers at the deadline, has a $7.4 million player option for the 2015-16 season, but he's expected to opt out and seek a longer-term deal. The 29-year-old figures to have no shortage of suitors, despite taking a step back this season after a stellar 2013-14 campaign. There's a chance he could return to Portland, though the Blazers will need to assess Wesley Matthews' situation first.

Afflalo was held scoreless (0-5 FG, 0-2 3Pt) with one rebound and one assist in 19 minutes during Monday's win versus the Grizzlies.

In his second game in the lineup since missing five due to a strained shoulder, Afflalo was unable to connect from the floor Monday, as he did in a five-point, six rebound performance Saturday. The inability to fill Wesley Matthews' (Achilles) shoes at two-guard has afflicted the Blazers throughout the first round, but CJ McCollum has exploded off the bench behind Afflalo, racking up 22 points, nine rebounds, four steals, four three-pointers, and two assists over the past two contests. Afflalo should continue to get the nod at shooting guard, but his ineffectiveness should make way for McCollum to play in crunch time, where the second-year guard managed well Monday.

Afflalo started at shooting guard and played 27 minutes in his return to the court Saturday. He put up five points (2-5 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 0-1 FT), six rebounds, and one assist before fouling out.

Afflalo could be an intriguing option to use for Monday's Game 4 against the Grizzlies, as with Mike Conley (face) out, the Blazers backcourt could have a little more breathing room on offense. Afflalo was out with a shoulder injury since April 11.
