Carlos Pena 1B TEX 11 Months

Angels signed 1B Carlos Pena to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Pena, 35, hit an ugly .207/.321/.346 with eight homers over 89 games for the Astros and Royals last season. He can still draw a walk, but Pena's power has slipped a bit the last couple years and he seems unlikely to land an Opening Day roster spot. The Halos also brought aboard Brennan Boesch on a minor league deal Tuesday.
