Darren O'Day RP BAL 2 Months

Darren O'Day boasts a 0.66 ERA and 13/5 K/BB ratio over 13 2/3 innings this season.

The Rangers cut O'Day loose two offseasons ago after an injury-plagued season, and they surely regret it, as the righty holds a 2.01 ERA and 0.93 WHIP while striking out over a batter per inning since the start of 2012. Despite being a submariner, O'Day has done a fine job of getting left-handed batters out, as well. He'll continue to help set up for Jim Johnson.

Orioles and RHP Darren O'Day avoided arbitration by agreeing to a two-year contract.

Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed, but it also includes a club option. The deal effectively buys out O'Day's final two years of arbitration and his first year of free agency. He was a major part of the O's bullpen in 2012, posting a stellar 2.28 ERA and 69/14 K/BB ratio over 67 innings.

Darren O'Day requested $3.2 million and was offered $1.8 million by the Orioles when arbitration figures were exchanged Friday.

O'Day is seeking a big raise from the $1.35 million he made last season after posting an excellent 2.28 ERA and 69/14 K/BB ratio over 67 innings. The two sides will likely meet somewhere closer to the $2.5 million midpoint.
