Brandon McCarthy SP NYY 4 Days

McCarthy lost for the third time in four starts Tuesday, giving up five earned runs on nine hits while striking out five and walking two in 6.1 innings against the Tigers.

The five earned runs were the most he's allowed as a Yankee since coming over from Arizona on July 6. Still, McCarthy has lasted six innings or more in all but one of his nine starts with New York while posting a 9:56 BB:K in that span, making him quite a valuable arm for the boys in pinstripes and a potentially sneaky acquisition in many fantasy formats.

McCarthy (8-12) tossed a gem Thursday against Houston, allowing just four hits while striking out eight in a complete-game shutout.

Another day, another fine outing for McCarthy in a Yankees uniform. He now owns a 5-2 record and 1.90 ERA since donning pinstripes, and has been striking out nearly a batter per inning -- something he's never done in his career. McCarthy will look to keep the good times rolling against the Royals on Tuesday.

McCarthy turned in 6.1 innings Friday night, allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits and a walk while piling up seven strikeouts in a 5-0 loss to the Rays.

McCarthy pitched well for the Yankees once again, but the New York lineup was unable to come up with much of anything against the Rays' staff. The towering righty has been extremely solid on the mound since first coming from Arizona to the Bronx back on July 6, posting a 2.30 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 9.0 K/9 across 43 innings. McCarthy is scheduled to be back on the bump Thursday versus the Astros.

McCarthy gave up two runs on seven hits while striking out eight in 6.1 innings Saturday against the Indians.

He now has just a 2.21 ERA with 36 strikeouts in 36.2 innings since joining the Yankees, and warrants ownership in the majority of leagues. He'll look to notch another quality start when he takes the hill Friday in Tampa Bay.

McCarthy stayed perfect as a Yankee, allowing one run in 5.2 innings against the Tigers Monday night.

It took McCarthy just five starts to accrue more wins in pinstripes than he had recorded with the Diamondbacks prior to last month's trade. McCarthy will put his undefeated record on the line this weekend against the Indians.

Brandon McCarthy allowed nine hits and four runs over six innings but went home with the win over the Rangers on Tuesday.

McCarthy turned in his worst start in four outings since joining the Yankees, but it was still good enough for his third win in pinstripes. McCarthy walked one while striking out three in the game. He's got a 2.55 ERA in those four starts as a member of the Yankees, and the change of scenery appears to have done him some good. McCarthy will try to keep the good times going Monday against the Tigers.

Brandon McCarthy pitched six innings and allowed just one run Thursday in a win over the Rangers.

Combining his last two starts with the Diamondbacks and his first three with the Yankees, McCarthy is 4-0 with a 1.72 ERA since June 27. He has benefited from an easy schedule during that span, though. It'll continue Monday, when he faces the Rangers again, but things will get more difficult after that.

Brandon McCarthy struck out nine batters over six innings of one-run ball in a 7-1 win over the Reds on Saturday.

Making his home debut in pinstripes, McCarthy was in control all afternoon, scattering six hits while walking none. The only run scored on a solo homer from Chris Heisey in the fifth inning. At the cost of Vidal Nuno, the 31-year-old was a solid addition to patch the injury-riddled rotation in New York, but he's a fringe option in mixed leagues now that he's calling the AL East home.

Brandon McCarthy, making his Yankees debut, allowed four runs (one earned) over 6 2/3 innings in Wednesday's 5-4, 14-inning win over the Indians.

McCarthy joined the Yankees in the trade that sent Vidal Nuno to the D'Backs on Sunday. The right-hander allowed three unearned runs in the first inning and one earned run in the fourth. Overall, he surrendered nine hits, walked one, and struck out three. Combined with his time with the D'Backs, McCarthy is 3-10 with a 4.80 ERA and a 96/21 K/BB ratio. McCarthy will face the Reds at Yankee Stadium following the All-Star break.

Yankees acquired RHP Brandon McCarthy and cash from the Diamondbacks in exchange for LHP Vidal Nuno.

The Diamondbacks will eat $2.05 million of the roughly $4.8 million remaining on McCarthy's contract, while the Yankees will pick up his $1 million assignment bonus. The tall right-hander holds a 5.01 ERA this season but sports an impressive 93/20 K/BB ratio and has seen a spike in his velocity. His ability to get grounders will help him at Yankee Stadium, though he won't have a very good defense behind him.
