Cameron Maybin CF SD 3 Days
Maybin went 2-for-4 with a run scored against the Diamondbacks on Friday.
Since losing grasp on the starting center field job for the Padres, Maybin has not been given many opportunities. Maybin has always had talent and massive potential, but it's starting to look like he will never realize it.

Maybin will be out of the lineup for the fifth straight game Sunday vs. the Dodgers, San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
At this point, it looks like he's lost his hold on the starting center field job. The Padres will give Abraham Almonte a long look at the position while they remain in evaluation-mode, and if he finds success, he could open 2015 as the starter. In that scenario, the Padres could look to deal Maybin in the offseason.

Maybin is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Brewers.
Maybin will yield center field duties to Abraham Almonte on Tuesday after three straight starts, with Bud Black seemingly intent on rotating between Maybin, Almonte and Will Venable at the position. Maybin is out of the lineup Friday against the Diamondbacks.
With Maybin sitting for the second time in three games since his reinstatement from the restricted list, it seems safe to say he will not be the everyday option in center field the rest of the way. Will Venable and Abraham Almonte are both capable defenders at the position and Maybin hasn't done enough at the plate to warrant a regular spot in the lineup, with just .243/.282/.362 batting line in 64 games this season.

Maybin entered in the ninth inning of Wednesday's win at the Dodgers as a defensive replacement in center field.
Maybin was reinstated Wednesday after serving a 25-game suspension for a banned substance, but due to the productive nature of the outfield of late, he didn't immediately earn an at-bat. With five full-time outfielders on the roster -- also, Seth Smith, Will Venable, Rymer Liriano, and Abraham Almonte -- regular playing time may be difficult for Maybin to come by in the short term.

Maybin was reinstated from the restricted list but remains out of the lineup Wednesday.
Manager Bud Black has chosen to not immediately return Maybin to the lineup and will instead go with Abraham Almonte in center against right-hander Roberto Hernandez. Maybin has hit just .247/.286/.368 this season but may still have a slight edge over the likes of Almonte and Will Venable over the rest of the season.

Maybin (suspension) was reinstated from the restricted list Wednesday.
Maybin is back with the Padres after serving his 25-game suspension for violating the league's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. He was sent to Triple-A El Paso last weekend for a tuneup and went 5-for-16 with a double in five games with the affiliate. The 27-year-old figures to play regularly in center field over the final weeks of the season, though Abraham Almonte will likely remain in the mix at the position.
