Justin Masterson struck out a season-high 11 batters while tossing seven scoreless frames in Sunday's 6-0 win over the Mariners.

Masterson permitted just three singles, walked a pair and hit a batter. The brilliant outing comes on the heels of a shutout of the Yankees, and he has now won seven games on the year. The big right-hander is looking much more like the 2011 version and in fact has been even better to this point. He'll bring a 2.83 ERA and 1.13 WHIP into Boston next weekend.

Justin Masterson hurled a brilliant four-hit shutout as the Indians won the first half of Monday's traditional doubleheader against the Yankees by a score of 1-0.

Masterson issued three walks but countered that with nine strikeouts. The victory pushed him to 6-2 on the season, and he's sporting a strong 3.14 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 60/24 K/BB ratio in 63 innings. The right-hander is an obvious must-start next time out against Seattle.

Justin Masterson picked up win No. 5 Wednesday, limiting the Athletics to three runs on just four hits and two walks over seven frames in the 4-3 victory.

He recorded seven punchouts. All four of the hits Masterson gave up came in Oakland's three-run fourth inning, and he also hit a batter that frame. He was (cough, cough) masterful otherwise, though. The big righty had struggled the last few times out, so this was a nice step in the right direction. He'll bring a 3.67 ERA and 1.24 WHIP into next week start against the Yankees.

Justin Masterson was knocked by the Twins in a no-decision on Friday, allowing five runs on eight hits over 6 2/3 innings.

On the plus side, Masterson did record five strikeouts in the game while walking just two. Even with the poor performance, he still owns a solid 3-2 record, 3.64 ERA and 44/19 K/BB ratio through his first 47 innings of the season. He'll look to get back on track when he does battle against the Athletics at home on Friday.

Justin Masterson was clobbered for seven earned runs over 6 1/3 innings Sunday afternoon in the first half of a doubleheader with the Royals.

Masterson racked up a season-high nine strikeouts but nothing else about the start was positive. He yielded nine hits and four walks, falling to 4-2 and watching his ERA balloon from 1.85 to 3.12. The righty will try to get back on track next week against the Twins.

Justin Masterson bounced back with a nice showing Monday, holding the White Sox to two runs over six frames in a 3-2 victory.

Masterson walked four, but he allowed just four hits and recorded five strikeouts. The big right-hander was in line to suffer his second loss but was bailed out when the Tribe came up with a pair of runs in the eighth. Masterson was lit up last week against the Red Sox, but he's posted a microscopic 0.93 ERA over his other four starts. He'll get the Royals next.

Justin Masterson crashed back to earth Wednesday, giving up four runs on 11 hits and a walk over five innings in a loss to the Red Sox.

The tall right-hander entered the game with a 3-0 record and pristine 0.41 ERA over his first three outings, but his former team didn't have any trouble squaring him up in this one. Masterson will get two starts next week, with the first one coming in Chicago against the White Sox.
