Victor Martinez feels fine after leaving Game 3 of the ALCS on Tuesday due to a quad cramp.

V-Mart tweaked his left quad after hitting a single in the ninth inning on Tuesday and was removed for a pinch-runner, but it's not a major concern. "Just a little cramp. but that was it," said Martinez. "Anyway, I was going to get a pinch-runner, so not a big deal." Look for him to be back in the lineup for Game 4 on Wednesday. V-Mart is hitting .419 (13-for-31) with one home run, four doubles, and three RBI this postseason.

Victor Martinez went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two walks in a 5-4 win over the Mariners on Thursday.

His seventh inning RBI double put the Tigers ahead for good. V-Mart was making his third start of the season behind the plate, though it doesn't look like he'll get enough games there to keep his eligibility for 2014 in most leagues. That will ding his value.

Tigers manager Jim Leyland said that Victor Martinez will catch Thursday.

It will be his third start at catcher this season. With V-Mart behind the plate, Leyland plans to use Miguel Cabrera out of the DH spot. We could see a similar arrangement in the postseason if Cabrera is banged up, so Leyland is experimenting with the possibilities.

After catching his first game of the season on Friday, Victor Martinez is expected to rest on Saturday, and return behind the plate for Sunday's series finale against the Mets.

Martinez said that his knees felt great after Friday's game. Even with a few games behind the plate however, he is unlikely to retain his catcher eligibility in most fantasy leagues for 2014, sapping his value in most formats.

Tigers manager Jim Leyland acknowledged that he is considering using Victor Martinez behind the plate this weekend against the Mets.

V-Mart was seen working out in catching gear Wednesday afternoon, but that doesn't mean he'll definitely see game action behind the plate. "I'm contemplating, contemplating only, catching him a game in New York," said Leyland.

Victor Martinez warmed up in catching gear on Wednesday.

Very interesting. V-Mart has been the Tigers' emergency catcher all season, but he hasn't been warming up in catching gear until now. The Tigers will play under National League rules this weekend against the Mets, so perhaps we could see him get some work behind the plate. The 34-year-old hasn't caught a game since August 4, 2011.

Victor Martinez went 2-for-3 with two walks and a run scored in Sunday's 3-2, 12-inning victory against the White Sox.

He went 0-for-7 in the series' first two games. V-Mart was positively dreadful in April and May, but a respectable June led to an onslaught in July in which the veteran catcher slashed .390/.429/.581 and collected 20 RBI in 105 at-bats. He entered play on Sunday batting .339/.362 /.482 in the second half. Martinez needs to be active in all formats while he's scorching hot.

Victor Martinez belted a solo homer in Thursday's loss to the White Sox.

It was one of three longballs the Tigers had on the day -- Torii Hunter and Brayan Pena had the others -- but they got out-slugged by the White Sox. Martinez is batting .398 over his last 23 games, upping his average from .225 to a much more respectable .267 in the process.
