Reds placed OF Ryan Ludwick on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 2, with a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

Ludwick had surgery Wednesday to repair the shoulder and is expected to miss the next three months. Derrick Robinson will take his place on the roster while Chris Heisey figures to get most of the starts in left field.

The Reds will place him on the disabled list and make a corresponding roster move before Wednesday's game. Chris Heisey will get the majority of the playing time during his absence and is worth owning in deeper mixed leagues.

Ryan Ludwick exited Monday's game against the Angels in the bottom of the third inning with an apparent right shoulder injury.

Ludwick suffered the injury on a head-first slide into third base. He walked in both of his plate appearances before exiting. Chris Heisey replaced him in the lineup and figures to get regular playing time if he needs a stint on the disabled list.
