Jose Lopez has agreed to a one-year contract with the Yomiuri Giants of Japan's Central League.
The deal will pay him $911,000, which is probably double what he would have made state-side. Lopez batted just .246/.270/.356 in 81 games last season, but he does have some power and should do pretty well in Japan.

Jose Lopez had a massive day at the dish on Saturday, going 5-for-6 with three RBI in an 11-5 thrashing of the Orioles.
The five-hit night raised Lopez's batting average from .232 to .257. With Lonnie Chisenhall on the disabled list, Lopez is being counted on to be a run producer in the Indians' lineup. He did the job Saturday.

Jose Lopez hit a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Reds.
Lopez's third home run of the season was his first since May 17. Receiving limited starts and a continual threat to be designated for assignment, Lopez is off the radar outside of exceptionally deep AL-only leagues.
