The 30-year-old was credited with the win Friday despite giving up three runs on four hits -- including a homer -- over 2.1 innings against Atlanta. Rex Brothers is on his way to Colorado and will likely be added in a corresponding move, while Laffey figures to pass through waivers unclaimed and return to Triple-A Albuquerque to serve as organizational depth.

Laffey's contract was purchased from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports. Laffey should provide extra bullpen depth for the Rockies in the immediate future, but he hasn't posted a great body of work at Triple-A This season. Over 19 games with Albuquerque, the 30-year-old hurler posted a 4.91 ERA and 1.61 WHIP with 33 strikeouts over 47.2 innings.

Nationals signed LHP Aaron Laffey to a minor league contract. The Nats recently lost Chris Young to the Mariners, so they grabbed Laffey to have another veteran arm in the system. Laffey was released by the Orioles earlier in the week and owns a 4.45 ERA for his major league career.

Orioles signed LHP Aaron Laffey to a minor league contract. He did not receive an invitation to spring training. Laffey logged a 7.11 ERA over 12 2/3 unexceptional innings for the Mets and Blue Jays last year. He's supreme organizational depth, nothing more.
