Kinsler had one hit on three at-bats Tuesday after being out since Friday due to shoulder soreness. He batted .275 last season with 17 home runs, 15 steals, 92 RBI, and 100 runs over 684 at-bats. Kinsler is expected to bat leadoff against right-handers and bat second against left-handers.

Kinsler's shoulder soreness will hold him out of Monday's spring contest, awarding him an extra day to rest the ailment. It isn't considered serious, however, as the infielder should be ready to take on a regular workload come Tuesday.

The Tigers are planning on using Kinsler as a leadoff option against right-handed starters, and as their likely No. 2 hitter against lefties when Rajai Davis slots into the top spot.

Kinsler has been on a roll lately, logging multi-hit efforts in three of his last six games. Despite hitting well south of .300 in September, he's contributed four home runs, five doubles and 16 RBI, putting him at 17 homers and 92 RBI overall for the season.
