Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Monday that he plans to reach out to Chipper Jones' agent. It's worth a shot, but all indications are that Chipper is happy in retirement. Even if he did entertain the idea of returning it would surely be with the Braves, who could use some help at the hot corner. Cashman is looking for someone that can help out at the corner infield spots with Mark Teixeira sidelined.

Chipper Jones, who is serving as a guest instructor for the Braves during spring training, reiterated on Saturday that he hasn't thought once about playing again. Chipper added that he didn't even want to put a uniform on. The future Hall of Famer appears to be content in his retirement, and despite interest from several teams this winter, it really looks like he has no desire to play again.

The agent for Chipper Jones said Monday that several teams have called his client to ask if he is truly retired. And those clubs received a resounding "yes." Jones, 40, hung up his cleats for good after the Braves' loss to the Cardinals in the 2012 Wild Card play-in game. He batted .303/.401/.529 with 2,726 hits, 468 home runs and 1,623 RBI over the course of his 19-year major league career.

Joe Torre, speaking on behalf of Major League Baseball, Joe Torre officially announced that the Braves' protest of Friday's game has been denied. Torre explained that he disallowed the protest because it was a "judgment call". While it's a tough situation, the odds were extremely unlikely that the call was going to be reversed, even though it probably should have. Still, it's not the reason that the Braves lost the game, as they were still facing a three-run deficit after throwing the ball around the infield all evening.

Chipper Jones singled and came around to score Wednesday against the Pirates in his final regular-season at-bat. Jones took the first pitch he saw from A.J. Burnett into right field for a single. It seemed likely that he'd be removed for a pinch-runner, but he stayed in and came around to score. The hit gave Chipper a .287/.377/.455 line in his final season. The .832 OPS is his highest mark since 2008, though he did come in over .800 each of the last three seasons as well. He ends his career having never finished below .800.

Chipper Jones said he'll probably take Tuesday off. He's in there Monday against Jeff Locke because he wanted to face a left-hander. The veteran third baseman is hitting just .230 this month, but still has an impressive .287/.377/.457 batting line and an .834 OPS in his final season in the big leagues.

Chipper Jones plans to play all six games during the Braves' final homestand. Chipper has played on six consecutive days just twice this season, but he wants the fans to be able to see him every day in what will be his final homestand at Turner Field. "He wants to play all the games at home, and you can't blame him," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "We sat down and spoke about it this afternoon. He wants to play all six, because he wants to be able to catch the Nationals and also give the fans here something to come out and watch."

Chipper Jones is not in the Braves' lineup Sunday. Chipper has dealt with a sore left knee recently. He's available to pinch-hit in what will be his last road game against the Mets.
