Kevin Gausman P BAL 10 Hrs

Gausman will start Monday against the Twins, CSNBaltimore.com reports.

It was widely assumed that Gausman would return from the Gulf Coast League to make his next scheduled start Monday, but manager Buck Showalter confirmed as much prior to Saturday's game. Gausman has posted a 3.84 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 15 starts for the big club this season and it sounds like his spot is relatively safe, with Ubaldo Jimenez sticking in the bullpen for the time being.

Gausman was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk following Wednesday's game, Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun reports.

Gausman is not expected to miss his next turn in the Orioles' rotation, but with him not scheduled to make his next start until Monday, the Orioles sent him down to open up a roster spot until rosters expand Sept. 1. Expect Gausman to be called up again that day.

Gausman allowed one earned run on two hits and four walks, striking out two over six innings Sunday against the Indians.

Gausman's four free passes matched a season-high, and ultimately limited his longevity in this one, as he needed 91 pitches (51 strikes) to complete six frames. He was left in line to earn the victory, however, and improved to 7-4 on the season after winning his third start in his last four tries. The 23-year-old now owns a 3.70 ERA on the season, but he's given up a lot of base runners, and a 4.37 xFIP suggests that his ERA could be on the rise. He'll attempt to prove this notion wrong in his next scheduled start Saturday against the Cubs.

Gausman gave up eight hits and three runs Sunday versus St. Louis. He struck out six and walked two batters in the losing decision.

Gausman was unable to register his third consecutive win. It was a struggle right from the start and he was never really able to settle down and find his groove. Gausman will try to get back on track in his next scheduled assignment, set for Saturday in Cleveland.

Gausman won for the second straight start, allowing three runs in six innings against the Nationals.

The young righty has looked strong in his last three starts, allowing just seven runs in those 19.2 innings. Though his strikeout totals remain low, Gausman has managed to limit damage while in the game. He'll try for his third straight win this weekend against the Cardinals.

Kevin Gausman picked up his fifth win of the season, allowing three runs in seven frames against the Angels as the Orioles hung on by a 4-3 margin on Wednesday.

Gausman was able to finish the seventh inning for only the second time in 10 starts this season. He brought a no-hitter into the fifth inning, but lost it after walking the bases loaded with two outs, allowing a two-run single and an RBI double. Overall, Gausman surrendered three hits, walked three, and struck out two. The 23-year-old has been solid out of the rotation, holding a 3.70 ERA, a 1.34 WHIP, and a 37/21 K/BB ratio. He'll take the hill on Monday in Washington against the Nationals as the two squads will make up July 8's postponed game.

Kevin Gausman held serve against Felix Hernandez on Friday, limiting the Mariners to one run in 6 2/3 innings.

Hernandez got one more out and certainly had the more dominant effort, but Gausman got the outs when they mattered and gave the Orioles a chance to win. He allowed seven hits, walked three and struck out three. It was the sixth time in nine starts that he's allowed one or no runs.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Rockies asked for Kevin Gausman in exchange for Jorge De La Rosa.

It was worth a shot, but the O's weren't going to bite on that ridiculous request. Gausman has tremendous upside and at least five more years of cost control. De La Rosa, meanwhile, is set to become a free agent this winter. Baltimore is seeking pitching upgrades with the July 31 trade deadline approaching, but it's been a seller-friendly market so far and the club is reluctant to part with any top prospects.

Kevin Gausman left Sunday's start against the Athletics after facing one batter in the fifth inning, allowing five runs over four innings in a loss.

The A's had Gausman's number on Sunday afternoon, piling up nine hits and a pair of walks. Gausman also struck out six. The right-hander, who has been up and down a few times for the Orioles this season, now has a 4.04 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and a 32/15 K/BB ratio. Gausman will try to pick up his fifth win on Friday night in Seattle against the Mariners.

Kevin Gausman will not be on an innings limit in the season's second half.

"The wrappers are off," Orioles manager Buck Showalter recently said regarding the club's usage of Gausman. The right-hander was used mostly as a spot starter in the first half, making seven starts while shuttling between Baltimore and the minor leagues. The O's still haven't committed to giving him the ball every five days, but with the kid gloves off Gausman should be more involved in the next two months. He has a 3.29 ERA over 38 1/3 innings and is a nice flyer in deeper mixed leagues.
