Kyuji Fujikawa RP CHC 6 Days

MLB.com's Phil Rogers reports that Kyuji Fujikawa (elbow) left his extending spring training appearance Monday with an injury.

Fujikawa was making his first game appearance since Tommy John surgery, but he had to call the trainer to the mound before eventually exiting. It's not clear at this point whether he had a setback with his surgically-repaired elbow or something else. The Cubs should provide an update on his status at some point. Fujikawa had been shooting for a return around midseason.

Cubs general manager Jed Hoyer said Thursday that Kyuji Fujikawa (elbow) "should be [throwing] off a mound here pretty soon."

Fujikawa is currently limited to flat-ground throwing as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery. It's been a really good process so far. He's really excited about how good he does feel and how well the ball is coming out of his hand." Fujikawa isn't expected back until midseason.
