Chris Iannetta (elbow) caught bullpen sessions and took batting practice Sunday in Angels camp.
Iannetta is still a couple of days from being cleared for throwing drills but should resume those and ultimately return to the Angels' Cactus League lineup by the end of this week. He's not in danger of missing the start of the regular season.

Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports that the Angels are expected to discuss a contract extension with new acquisition Chris Iannetta.
Not surprising. Iannetta can void a club option for 2013 since he was traded, and the Angels wouldn't have dealt Tyler Chatwood for him if they thought he might just be around for one year. The 28-year-old will be owed $3.55 million for the 2012 season.

Angels acquired C Chris Iannetta from the Rockies for RHP Tyler Chatwood.
Iannetta, 28, produced a .370 on-base percentage, 14 home runs and 55 RBI in 112 games this past year for Colorado and should provide a nice spark of offense for Anaheim. The Angels are losing a bit of long-term rotation depth in Chatwood, but they had to make an upgrade behind the plate. It's not a bad trade for either side, especially with the Rockies adding free agent catcher Ramon Hernandez in a corresponding move.

Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports that the Rockies and Angels have discussed a trade involving Chris Iannetta.
In turn, Renck was told that the Rockies asked the Angels about the availability of prospect right-hander Tyler Chatwood. It's one of many possibilities, as the Angels are talking to multiple teams about a catcher, but Renck reported Monday that the Rockies would only be willing to deal Iannetta if they sign free agent Ramon Hernandez.

Chris Iannetta is making his final start of the season Sunday.
Rockies manager Jim Tracy wants to get a look at Wilin Rosario and Jordan Pachedo behind the plate in the final series of the season. Iannetta is batting .236/.370/.407 with 13 homers this year. He could be trade bait over the offseason.

Rockies GM Dan O'Dowd considers Chris Iannetta the team's starting catcher for next season.
Wilin Rosario has hit three homers and slugged .500 since being called up earlier this month, but he's also getting on base only at a .240 clip and is considered an unfinished product defensively. Of course, the Rockies could look to trade Iannetta over the offseason, which has been speculated. He's slated to make $3.55 million next season, with a $5 million club option for 2013 that can be voided if he's dealt before that season.

Chris Iannetta singled and belted a solo homer in Thursday's loss to the Giants.
Iannetta's playing time has been cut since Wilin Rosario's arrival, and he hasn't hit in the few starts that he's had recently. But, his production overall on the year has been there, as he sports a .367 OBP to go along with 13 homers.

The Rockies have told Chris Iannetta he'll take a backseat to Wilin Rosario for the rest of the month.
Iannetta has been one of the NL's better catchers with his .237/.370/.409 line this season, but the Rockies want to get a look at their youngster. It'd be no surprise if Iannetta gets traded this winter.
