Jim Hoey has retired from baseball.
Hoey was hoping to make a comeback in 2014 after spending the majority of the 2013 season in independent ball, but he did not attract any offers. The 31-year-old right-hander will hang up his cleats with a 7.02 ERA and 1.847 WHIP in 61 career major league appearances. He last appeared in the bigs in 2011 with the Twins.

Tim Dierkes of MLBTradeRumors.com reports that Jim Hoey will attempt a return to the majors in 2014.
Hoey spent most of this past season in independent ball and was clocked in the mid-90s on the radar gun. The soon-to-be 31-year-old hasn't appeared in the majors since 2011. He'll only require a minor league deal.

The Brewers released RHP Jim Hoey.
Hoey, 30, was signed in December but had allowed 11 runs in just 3 1/3 innings at Triple-A Nashville. He last pitched in the major leagues in 2011.

Brewers signed RHP Jim Hoey to a minor league contract.
His deal includes an invitation to spring training. The 29-year-old right-hander compiled a 5.47 ERA, 1.91 WHIP and 14/13 K/BB ratio over 24 2/3 innings with the Brewers in 2012. He'll compete for a middle relief role in the Brewers bullpen.
