In his stead, Lorenzo Cain will handle right field, while Jarrod Dyson bats leadoff.

Aoki is the first Kansas City player to record three base swipes in a single game since Gregor Blanco in 2010. The 32-year old has been an instrumental part of the Royals' seven-game winning streak, collecting seven hits, seven RBI and six runs scored in that span.

Aoki went 1-for-4 on Tuesday, launching a grand slam for his first home run of the year.

Aoki turned on the first pitch he saw from Bo Schultz and lined it just over the wall in right field for his first career grand slam. The blast was his first in 338 at-bats, going back to last season. The 32-year-old outfielder has been a disappointment in his first year in the American League, batting .264/.334/.337 in 329 at-bats.

Norichika Aoki helped the Royals walk off with an RBI single in Thursday's 14-inning, 2-1 win over the Indians.

Aoki had been hitless in his four previous trips to the plate, but ended up becoming the hero. Lorenzo Cain singled and stole second base to lead off the 14th. After Danny Valencia struck out, Aoki singled to left field to plate Cain. Aoki has been hitting better as of late, but still has a mediocre .262/.331/.320 slash line with no home runs, 15 RBI, and eight stolen bases.

Royals activated OF Norichika Aoki from the 15-day disabled list.

Aoki is hitting leadoff and is in right field on Friday against the Tigers. He batted just .263/.326/.324 over 68 games before going down with a groin injury and might not receive regular playing time once Alex Gordon (wrist) returns.

He should only need a few rehab games before being activated later this week. Aoki has been on the shelf since mid-June with a strained groin.
