Norichika Aoki RF SF 5 Days

Aoki will spend some time batting leadoff this spring, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.

Aoki is expected to work as the everyday left fielder, and he may unseat Angel Pagan from the leadoff spot in the lineup. It sounds as if both Pagan and Aoki will get at-bats from atop the order this spring.

Aoki is expected to step in as the Giants' everyday left fielder, Henry Shulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Aoki, who joined the reigning World Series champions on a one-year, $4 million deal, will spend the majority of his time in left, but manager Bruce Bochy said he also anticipates Aoki seeing time in both center and right field spelling Angel Pagan and Hunter Pence. Bochy also stated that Pagan will open spring training penciled into the leadoff spot, though there's a chance Aoki could take the position.

Aoki agreed to a one-year, $4 million contract with the Giants on Friday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Aoki will head to San Francisco to take over as the Giants' primary left fielder. He probably will not play every day, but he has been better against left-handers than right-handers in his career, so it's more likely he works in a timeshare than in a strict platoon. Aoki will likely hit either second or eighth when he is in the lineup.

Aoki is not in the lineup for Game 3 of the World Series.

With the series shifting to San Francisco, the Royals lose the DH, so it appears Aoki will be the odd man out of the lineup. Lorenzo Cain will shift over to right, and Jarrod Dyson will start in center.

It's just a routine day off for Aoki, who has been playing on a semi-regular basis. Carlos Peguero will get the start in right field.

Aoki was 1-for-3 with one RBI in the Royals' win over the Yankees on Friday night.

He had been slumping in late August but may be turning it around just a bit. His RBI single in the third inning produced the only run of the game so it was a key hit. If he can get his stroke back, he could again start seeing more regular playing time.

Aoki isn't in the lineup Monday against the Rangers, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports.

Aoki has put together a four-game hitting streak (not including Sunday's suspended game against the Indians) since his previous absence last Tuesday. During that span, he put up a .333 average (5-for-15) with one RBI and one run scored. In his place, Carlos Peguero is covering right field and batting seventh in the order.

Aoki is out of the lineup Monday versus the Yankees, Josh Vernier of FOX Sports KC reports.

Aoki is sitting for the third time in five games, which may have been spurred by his current 0-for-14 stretch at the plate. In his stead, Lorenzo Cain will cover right field, while Jarrod Dyson mans center.

Aoki is not in the starting lineup Saturday, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports.

With Aoki on the bench against right-hander Nick Tepesch, the Royals will use Jarrod Dyson in center field and slide Lorenzo Cain over to play right.

Aoki is not in the lineup Wednesday, the Kansas City Star's Andy McCullough reports.

Josh Willingham will get the start in right field, with the DH not an option in Colorado. Aoki has reclaimed the everyday job in right, but has just one hit in his last 11 at-bats, which may have prompted the day off.
