Wada is close to signing a deal with the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks to return to Japan, the Japan Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wada played for Fukuoka in Japan from 2003 to 2011 before leaving for the Cubs in 2012. It looks like Wada has decided to finish his career in Japan.

Wada was designated for assignment by the Cubs on Sunday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wada didn't make the postseason roster, and the veteran wasn't particularly good this season, so he'll now lose his spot on the 40-man roster in favor Taylor Teagarden.

Wada was recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
A shoulder injury cost Wada more than a month, and he hasn't been particularly sharp since his activation from the DL, posting a 5.40 ERA and 1.67 WHIP in his final six starts for Iowa. Kyle Hendricks has had some occasional troubles at the back of the Cubs' rotation, but Wada has done nothing lately to push for the spot.

Wada (shoulder) will make the start Saturday for Triple-A Iowa, Tommy Birch of the Des Moines Register reports. Wada has progressed to the Triple-A level on his rehab assignment. With the major league All-Star break looming, this will give Wada a chance to get some extra work in before rejoining the Cubs.

Wada (shoulder) gave up four runs in four innings in a rehab start for Double-A Tennessee on Monday. Wada struck out five but gave up eight hits, including two home runs. He'll probably get another start or two in the minors, but should be ready not long after the break.

Wada (shoulder) will make a rehab start Monday for Double-A Tennessee, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports. If all goes well in this outing, Wada's next start could be with the Cubs in the big leagues. This could very well come next weekend during a three-game series with the White Sox.

Wada (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day DL Sunday with inflamation in his left deltoid, the Cubs' official site reports. Wada injured his shoulder in Monday's start against the Dodgers and was forced to leave the game. He tried to rehab the injury, but after missing Saturday's start, the Cubs opted to rest Wada in attempt to get him back sooner than later. Neil Ramirez was activated from the DL in a corresponding move. Ramirez should return to his role in the bullpen.

Wada will not make his scheduled start Saturday, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports. Donn Roach, a command and control righty from Triple-A, will take Wada's turn in the rotation. The Cubs hope that after a long-toss session and some time off Wada will be able to rejoin the rotation next week, but he should be considered questionable for that contest.

Wada's status for Saturday's scheduled start is still up in the air, manager Joe Maddon told MLB.com's Carrie Muskat. "There's still some soreness...we're not prepared to say yes or no on the next start. We're going to wait a little while longer to evaluate all that," said Maddon. Wada was able to play catch Wednesday but it's still remains to be seen if he'll be able to give it a go on Saturday. More information concerning Wada's status should be made available once the Cubs finish evaluating his shoulder in the coming days.
